Late in December we went to the Getty Museum located at 1200 Getty Center Drive in Los Angeles. The Getty Villa is located at 17985 Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades, CA. We went to the Museum.

Jean Paul Getty (1892 – 1976) was an American industrialist and founder of the Getty Oil Company.

The Getty Museum is closed on Mondays and open Tuesdays through Thursdaysand Sundays 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. They stay open until 9:00p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Getty Museum is very popular. Perhaps even more so because it is free. My notes say the following: “We waited in a long line though...

Even if you have no interest in art, per se, the buildings are impressive! Just walking around the grounds and seeing the white marble buildings and special gardens is a treat.  I don't recall how many freighters of white marble came from Italy, but it will knock your socks off. Theres's also something in the garden area on the west side called the "sound garden". Amazing.
