My not-so-little-little guy, Timothy, is going to be eight months old on July 2nd, and he's teething up a storm. His two bottom teeth just popped through, and he's chewing and drooling more than ever. A quick survey of his closet unearthed a teething toy I didn't know he received: the Buzzing Bee Massaging Teether by Learning Curve's The First Years. I love the First Years brand; they made these simple plastic keys that are Timothy's favorite to gnaw. So when I found the Buzzing Bee Massaging Teether, I wondered if he would react to it with the same gusto. Since it has a massaging feature, I wasn't sure if he would enjoy the sensation on his sensitive gums. Was I happy to discover that not only does he enjoy the teether, but he definitely gets a kick out of gum massage.

It didn't take long for my son to figure out that biting on the bee's rubber/plastic "antennae" triggers the vibrations. He laughs and keeps biting it, which I think is so funny and also great for his understanding of cause and effect. The bee is really easy to hold with colorful plastic loops around its body; a baby can bite those and soothe his gums because they reach far back to his molar areas.. Four plastic rings ("flowers") on the loops click together a bit for a fun sound--you really have to shake the toy to hear this, however. The bright, colorful toy has a cute smile on its "bee body" to greet your little one. The primary colors--orange, blue, purple, yellow, pink--will stimulate the baby's sight and draw his attention to the teether, which (if the baby is like mine) may last more than two minutes.

In order to clean the Buzzing Bee Massaging Teether, simply wipe it down with soap and warm water. This toy is not meant to be immersed in boiling water or put into the dishwasher--it has batteries that cannot be removed, so dousing them in water will most likely ruin the vibration feature that makes the teether unique.

Overall, this is a teething toy I definitely would recommend for babies who are chewing up a storm. Recommended for ages three months and up, I feel that an older baby with better grasping dexterity will get the most out of holding and using this cute toy.

This teether was purchased at Target and retails for about $8.00.

Sounds like an interesting product. I have a 9-month-old but she's not teething at this point.
