The First Years Sippy Cup Baby Bottle —

I first purchased the First Years Insulated Cup 9 oz. 2 Pack Princess Designfrom Kohls for three reasons. First, I admit to classic mommy error (ok, daddy was there too) and gave in to my daughter's please oh please oh pleasseee -- with the added I will share it with Gracie there are two!, Second it was 30% off making the costs of the two sippy cups less than the cost of purchasing two cups individually (and I needed cups) and three they were insulated.

Price of First Years Insulated Cup 9 oz. 2 Pack Princess Design:  Retail $9.99

What I don't like about the First Years Insulated Cup 9 oz. 2 Pack Princess Design:

  • they are hard to clean
  • they spill
  • they leak from the slit at the top of the lid which is the pressure release valve

What I do like about the First Years Insulated Cup 9 oz. 2 Pack Princess Design

  • there were two in the pack
  • the design -- not only do they have a pink princess design but Winnie the Pooh and several others to choose from
  • durable
  • insulated
  • for ages 9 months and up so you can start using them sooner
  • 9 ounce size is just about perfect for wherever we go
  • clear bottom helps me know when it is empty without shaking
  • BPA free

My Viewpoint: These are very popular cups with both of my children a toddler and a preschooler.  The pink lids and Disney Princess design is just what my daughter's love and if one of them is in the dishwasher they will fight over who gets the clean one.  Since they are insulated they travel well, even to preschool keeping even milk cold. The 9 ounce size is perfect for travel it gives them something to drink right away and room to refill it when I need to. There is no valve, so no pieces to use. They do leak -- but don't spill. Occasionally I worry about getting the inside of the lid clean, but usually a good bit of hot water and Dawn  gets them clean. For tougher cleaning (say a cup has been lost) a good soak in hot water with a tablespoon of Clorox does the trick.

I have three favorite sippy cups we use regularly in our house. Find out about theGerber Graduates Sip and Smile Sippy Cups and why we use it.

Sippy cups are a lifesaver for the OCD person. I began using these when my nephews were younger and now all of my friends are using them. They're great for little hands and we haven't had too many problems with leaks.

In response to Fardreamer's comment from Feb 2, 2009 at 12:24PM:

If they did, I was just dirty thought in my father's Navy mind :-D However, as of at least 1985 they did!

Very nice review. I am, of course, in no position to remember, but did sippy cups even exist in the early Sixties?
