The First Years Quick Serve Bottle Warmer does it's job

3

My son just turned one and we've used The First Years Bottle Warmer since day one.  It is compact so it doesn't take up much space on the kitchen countertop and is easy to use.  Just measure the water in the vial that is included and pour the water into the container, put your bottle in and press the button and viola!  Warm milk.  The only problem I've had is when heating up more than 6 ounces of milk you have to do the process twice because one full vial of water is not enough to heat the milk.  That is a little time consuming, especially when you have a crying baby that is hungry and wants his milk now!  The unit also has an automatic shut off so that is one less thing you need to worry about.  It takes a little practice in the beginning to figure out the amount of water to put in the vial but with time, you learn to just estimate how much is needed.  I usually fill it up to the top line and if I am heating up a smaller amount then I would just take it out before the unit automatically shuts off.  This product is not great, nor is it awful but it does the job.

Works for us, but took some experimentation

3

The First Years Bottle Warmer works fine for us.  We did have to experiment with the water level to get the best temperature for the bottles because the chart that was included with the instructions was very inaccurate.  When I followed the chart's instructions, the bottles just did not get warm enough.  Once I found the best water levels to use, however, the bottle warmer worked just fine.  It didn't heat the liquid evenly, and I didn't expect it to.  Based on the instructions, I expected to have to shake the bottle after heating in order to distribute the warmth evenly throughout the bottle, and that's exactly what I did. I like that I could use different size bottles (standard width or wider bottles such as the Gerber Nuk) in the same warmer.  I love how very easy it is to use (at least, once I figured out the proper water amount to use) -- just add water, drop the bottle in, push the button, and wait for the light to go out.  So simple!  It didn't take very long, either, but then again, I was never really in a rush to get the bottle heated for a screaming baby (I primarily breastfed and only used the bottles to give Daddy some extra bonding time).  My only real complaint is that the notch on the side of the warmer unit did not hold the measuring cup very well.  It would sit in there just fine as long as it wasn't jostled, but if you happened to bump either the cup or even just the main unit, the cup would fall out pretty easily.  Overall, though, if that's my biggest complaint about the product, I can't complain too much.

I couldn't live without this

My son has been impatient with food since the day he was born.  It used to take forever to warm his bottles on the stove and it would often get too hot.  The First Years Bottle Warmer was a huge help for us.  It was quick and always heated to the right temperature.  We took it to everyone's house because it was small enough to tag along and it was that great of a product that we just couldn't live without it.

Not a very good product, my son's bottle would be uneven temps.

I bought this product to use at night to warm up my son's bottle in my room. I really tried to give it a chance but it got water all over the bottle, the tempurature was uneven alot of the time, and it stopped working after about 2 week. I obviously did not make that purchase again!

Not very accurate or user-friendly.

This bottle warmer is not something I would recommend to anyone.  The directions on how to warm a bottle are inaccurate.  I have yet to have a bottle come out right.  I have had to experiment and try different amounts of water and even when I use the same amounts, the temperature is never the same.  I would be better off using a pot of water and warming the bottle than to keep using this warmer.  It is not easy to clean and gets dirty very easily.  Since it is not accurate when warming, this is actually dangerous as serious steam burns could occur while you are checking the temperature of the liquid in the bottle.  If using the Playtex Vent-Air bottle, be very careful as the hot water will collect in the base of the bottle and when turned over, the water comes out of the base and can scald you or your baby while feeding.  Please use with caution or find another brand.

One of the best things we got at our shower

This bottle warmer ended up being one of the best things we were given. In those first few months after our daughter was born and she would get up through the night this bottle warmer was a life safer. We would get about 4-5 bottles made up at bedtime and put them in the fridge. Then, when Meadow would wake up crying and ready for a bottle we would get one out of the fridge, stick it in the bottle warmer, change her diaper and the bottle was ready when we were done. (The quicker the bottle was made and baby was fed the easier it is to fall back asleep more quickly!) It always heated perfectly, never to hot and it automatically shuts itself off. It also has a small "cooler" like section at the back of the bottle warmer. You can stick two bottles in it with some ice and keep it in the nursery, that way you don't even have to go out to the kitchen for your bottle. It is also very easy to clean and very durable. A must have to get parents through those first few months. The only negative thing is that you must be sure to have the bottle lid on tight or it will leak out and make a mess when the bottle is being heated up. (Somehow, as the steam rises so does the formula).

The First Years quick serve bottle warmer: a necessity

This is a must have for every parent. I do not know what I would have done without this bottle warmer. First of all, the cooler compartment in the back was a lifesaver! There is an icepack in there, and room for two bottles. This was great for when my son was an infant and would wake up every 2-3 hours for a bottle. I did not have to stumble to the kitchen half asleep to get a bottle, since I kept this warmer in his room. It came with two tubes for the water so you are all set to warm up both bottles.  Only problem I had was that the amount of water it said to use was totally off. The first time I used it the bottle was burning hot! I had to experiment with it to figure out the right amount of water to use to get the bottle the perfect temperature, but it was so worth it. But when he was able to drink a few more onces at a time, again I had to figure out the amount of water to use. I used Dr. Brown's bottles and since they have the straw in the bottle, when using the warmer the milk would go up the straw and spill into the warmer and making it stay on longer than it should have.  This is the main complaint I have seen.  The solution to this is unscrew the top of the bottle and remove the straw while warming, this will prevent milk spilling over. I kept the travel tops on the bottles until I was about to use them, than put the rest in after warming. You do need to clean out the unit often to prevent it from getting dirty. I use to pour vinegar into it and let it soak once a week to prevent it from getting icky. Overall I loved this warmer and could not survive the waking up every two hours without it.

Bottle Warmer is great for late night feedings

We've been using this bottle warmer for about three months now, and it has worked great. Our daughter doesn't mind drinking cold milk from the fridge, but she prefers room temperature, so we just put it in this to heat up, and it is done within a few minutes. You know it is done when the light turns off. At night, it is perfect, because we get up, grab the bottle from the fridge, put it in the warmer, and it is done by the time her diaper is changed. To warm the bottle, you dump a specific amount of water inside a vial into the container. This warmer is nice because there are two vials to fill up with water, which means you don't have to refill it every time. But, sometimes, I wish there were 4 vials, because it seems like they are always needing refilled. I only have a few complaints, one-it gets dirty inside easily. Our water is really hard, so maybe that is the problem, but it just gets gross and pieces flake off inside. It says to clean it out every now and then, but I can never seem to get it really clean. Also, when the bottle was only filled with 4 ounces or less if it got left in the warmer after the light turned off, the milk would sometimes get too warm, and I'd have to add some cold milk from the fridge to cool it down. This didn't happen often, because I paid attention...but it could happen after even a minute, and that was annoying during especially dirty diaper changes. It also says it works for bigger bottles, and it does, but it doesn't seal around my bigger avent bottles, so they don't get as warm. Again, this is fine for us because she doesn't mind cooler milk, but if your baby only likes it warm, it could be annoying. But, it is worth it, especially when compared to the cost of other bottle warmers.

Good but not for me

I received this as a baby shower gift and couldn't wait to use it since I'd heard warming up bottles in the middle of the night was usually such a hassle! Well it's too bad because the only bottles my son would take are the Tommee Tippee and they are so fat they would never fit into this bottle warmer! I have since gifted it to a friend who absolutely loves it! It is so cheap (I saw it online at several stores and it is so affordable! I can't see why all moms don't get this!) yet when I took it out of the box it seemed very well constructed. It is made of quality materials, not cheap plastic that I thought it would be because of the price. I was able to set it up in a pinch. I had my crying son in my arms and I was still able to figure it all out! It's just really too bad my bottles wouldn't fit in it. I know all normal sized bottles would, but there are quite a few out there that wouldn't. I recommend it to all my friends though!

Does the trick

This was given to be by a friend after I decided not to register for it after reading the reviews.  I had to download new instructions online, but after I read them, it was a piece of cake.  I was sorry that I let the reviewers sway my decision.  This thing works just fine if you follow the instructions.  It isn't difficult, as I was able to operate at 2 am in the dark being blind as a bat.  I guess some people just can't follow directions. We liked it so much we bought another one for downstairs during the day because my daughter's formula had to be mixed in advance due to gas issues. We didn't really use the bottle cooler feature because I would never remember to freeze the ice pack during the day, but it would have been even more convienient if we had. We didn't use this for very long because after my daughter's gas cleared up we just gave her formula at room temperature, which suited her just fine.  The only negative I have is that is has to be cleaned often or it starts to smell like a dirty hot plate!
