Has to be durable, for trips, being thrown or dropped.

My son was in the NICU for two months, and he was used to the long disposable nipples that were given to him when he was fed there. He had a hard time latching onto me because of his age, and because my nipples are not what he is used to. When I brought him home, I had to use a nipple shield so he could breastfeed, and I had also wanted to breastfeed him all the milk I had pumped, but I wanted to find a bottle and nipple that would be more like my breast. That was when I found this bottle, when I had him try it, he took well to it because he was used to a plastic nipple, then the next feeding I gave him my breast, and lo and behold, he actually latched on...I was so happy! Now I don't have to use the nipple shield! This is one product I would highly recommend to all breastfeeding moms.

I love the idea of this bottle. That is why I bought them when I was pregnant with my son. I knew that I was going to breast feed him, but i did need some bottles to serve breast milk for when I went back to work. I bought some of these and some Avent flow that went with my breast pump. First off, my son hated these bottles. He couldn't get the hang of them. They have so many pieces that they are hard the wash and hard to put back together. With all of the pieces, we were often losing and misplacing parts if the bottles. I found that the bottles were more trouble than they were worth. It was a bummer, because I had spent so much on them and the idea of them is great. Babies are picky. This one did not work for us. He much preferred the Avent even though he was nursing. Go ahead and give them a try if you are expecting a baby and like the idea of them.

Best bottle for latch issues!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I bought this gift set before my son was born because I had planned on breastfeeding.  I wasn't sure if I would have to use bottles or not so I purchased these.

My son's doctor had us start supplementing after he was born and I ended up having issues with my son wanting to breastfeed after that.  The bottles did help with him wanting to latch.

When I was trying to get him to latch again after issues with the supplementing- I started using these bottles.  This was the only bottle that was actually working and mimicing an actual breast.  My son would tolerate trying to breastfeed then using the same motions with his mouth to use this bottle and to breastfeed.

Baby has to...

We used the Breastflow bottles while our newborn son was nursing. I was only able to nurse him for the first 8 weeks, and we got the breastflow bottles because we thought they would help him be able to switch more easily from breast to bottle. It did take the bottles very well, but they took a VERY VERY long time for him to drink.

The Breastflow bottles have two different nipples, that force that baby to work harder and drink from the bottle like a breast. I guess it was helpful for the baby, but I don't really think it was necessary. I think he probably could have used a regular bottle and been just fine.

Once we switched to formula feeding, the Breasflow bottles took WAY too long, so we quickly switched to regular bottles and he was able to drink much better.

The moral of the story is that I do not think Breastflow bottles are necessary, although they probably make nursing mothers feel better about allowing their baby to drink from a bottle.

First Years Breastflow Baby Bottles help support breastfeeding!!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

The First Years Breastflow Baby Bottles help maintain breastfeeding. These bottles make an easy transition between bottle feeding and breastfeeding. My daughter has used these bottles since she was born when I just started out breastfeeding, so that the rest of my family could feel included with the feeding process. I also love these bottles because they connect with the First Years breast pump. These bottles also simulate the way the baby would feed at the breast, which makes the transition easy. The part I don't like about these bottles is that you have to keep squeezing out the collected milk in the nipple back into the bottle a lot and that these bottles leak if you are not careful. These bottles are easy to find online, but can be hard to find in the stores.

First Years Breastflow Bottles best bottle

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I was planning on breastfeeding exclusively my first child but when I ran into the problem of lacking in milk supply I had to supplement with formula. We tried other bottles that he didn't like at all. We tried this one since it looked so similar to the breast and stated that it was good for switching between bottle and breast. He immediately loved it and it actually helped him to learn to latch on better. There was no nipple confusion at all. The bottle does have more parts than the avent or just the plain Gerber bottles but that is part of why this bottle is so great and works so well. If you have to go back to work and are pumping than this bottle is great. If you want daddy to do some mi...

LOVE THIS BOTTLE IT'S A LIFE SAVER!!!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

This bottle is the ONLY bottle my son will take. He was exclusively breastfed until I went back to work when he was 4 months old. He would NOT take ANY bottle for the first several weeks. After trying several different brands and nipples the ONLY one he will take is the Breast Flow bottle. It must remind him most of the breast. The bottles are very quality, they wash up well. The nipples so far have held out well. The flow seems to be perfect for him. The price was reasonable for a 3 pack of 9 ounce bottles. I wash this bottle in the dishwasher with no problems at all. I purchased mine at Target and they said it was the last pack they had and they weren't going to be carrying it anymore. Which bums me out because I shop at Target a lot. I plan to just buy them on Amazon from now on because they are a bit cheaper there anyways. I would recommend this bottle to ANY mother who is looking for an easy transition from breast to bottle!!

The Breast Flow Bottle is great for nursing babies!

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

We started out with these bottles right away with my daughter. With my older kids, we experienced some issues switching between breast and bottle, because they just couldn't go back and forth with the nipples. I was told about these before even getting pregnant with my daughter, so I decided to get the started sets with a gift card I was given when I was pregnant with her.

I did notice that sometimes she would seem to take in too much of the nipple, then I would just slowly unscrew the top to allow some of the milk to fall down, and things would be fine. Eventually, I realized that I just needed to move up to a faster flowing nipple. I don't usually have to do that at such a young age, but she apparently had a very strong suck, that the nipple just could not handle.

The one thing that I did not like, was that after so many washings, the markings on the bottle began to fade, and eventually came off, which made measuring a bit hard.

Good idea, poor execution!

Overall
Rated 2 out of 5

I really like the idea of these bottles, but I felt like they didn't work well for us at all. I didn't like that they had so many pieces to keep up with and sanitize. I didn't like that they didn't really work they way they said they do. The milk got caught in the second compartment of the nipple and my son ended up getting more air than I ever expected. I was pretty disappointed in these bottles because I am an avid supporter of breastfeeding and I know that even a breastfeeding mother can benefit from a break once in a while. I thought that the bottles were priced affordably until I got them home and decided they didn't work nearly as well as the videos on their website said they would. I ...

Only bottle my breastfed son would take

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

My son did not get a bottle very often. Because I am a stay at home mom, the times that a bottle is required is very very slim. However, when I do pump for him to have a bottle, this is the only bottle he will take. Of course, it takes him a little while to figure it out. It is a complicated bottle and just like the breat, baby must work harder to eat from it. The bottle comes in various sizes. It is easy to clean and perfect for breastfed babies. It did take me a while at first to figure out how to put it together and exactly how it works. It is completly different from other bottles, becuase it is designed to be like the breast. I felt comfortable given this bottle to my son and he did not have any nipple confusion because of it. If you have trouble getting a breastfed baby to take a bottle, this is certainly one that you should try. It make take a little bit for you kiddo to figure it out, but if they do, it will work great for when mommy isn't around to breastfed.

hard to clean, leaks

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

Well we started to use this because at first we wanted a bottle to mimic breastfeeding and obviously that can never happen. But the bottle works great but for a few minor things. Formula gets stuck in the corners and crevaces, its gross and gunky. Its super hard to clean, and even when you do clean it the formula dries up inside the blue thing that goes inside the nipple and u can scrub it off. It leaks every where when you shake it unless u wash and dry it VERY WELL and it wont leak. I sometimes put formul inside and then if he wants more i dont clean it,i just go ahead and add more water and powder and shake. and all the liquid just comes out and i have to clean it again. Its a hassle really, i wish they would fix how to clean it because its hard.

I had a ton of problems finding a nipple that my son could latch on to, he's a breastfeed baby and needed some formula to supplement during transitions. This bottle is very good, he uses a Stage 1 nipple when just drinking formula and now the dr has him using a stage 2 nipple and a tablespoon of cereal to help reflux. I thought they'd be hard to keep clean but I found they are not hard to clean at all.

soooo not like the breast

Overall
Rated 2 out of 5

I am now nursing my second child and this is the worst bottle I have used thus far.  She decided she only wanted her milk fresh from the tap so I cycled through quite a few different bottles.  This one did NOT feel or work like the breast.  The whole idea of this bottle, in my opinion, is ridiculous.  Not only was she not at all fooled, but the nipple was extremely difficult to assemble correctly (neither my sitter nor I were able to get it together and functioning properly).  There were a large number of pieces so this was a hassle to clean.  Every baby has their own opinion so I suppose if you can put it together in such a way that it will not leak then best of luck to you.  The cost is also a little on the high side, especially when you consider that it is an inferior product.  They do market this in such a way that you are inclined to believe it works...and I did try it but it does not feel "just like the breast".

I had planned to breastfeed my daughter and didn't anticipate even needing bottles for awhile. But when my milk supply was inadequate, I resorted to the bottle. A friend had given me this product as a shower gift and I loved the concept. As I'm not a lactation expert, I cannot say whether or not this nipple provides a latch that is closest to breastfeeding. It looks (to my untrained eye) as if it would since the shape mimics the breast. So I did like that aspect. I did have a couple of issues with this bottle. First, the bottle leaked and if I tried tightening it, the nipple collapsed horribly. Secondly, I had issues with the last bits of milk (approx. 1/2 ounce) getting trapped in the outer nipple. It didn't seem as if my baby could get it out. That may not seem like a big issue for some, but when you are low on breastmilk and have to pump, you want every precious drop to nourish your baby, not get thrown out.

My baby is 6 months old, this week... she has been latching on worse and worse!  I barely ever give her a bottle and when I do it's water, just for her to play with after she eats some cereal or something...

So I got this bottle because I thought she would get less air and MAYBE it would help with her latching on a little better.

She played with it at first, bit it a lot (she's toothless, still) but after a bit, she seemed to like drinking from it!  Usually she takes the water in and shoots it out, but she seemed to really like drinking from it!

Lo and behold, when we nursed, she did start to gradually latch on a little better!  And much stronger!  I wasn't...
