I was set on breastfeeding which I managed to do untli my daughter was 5 months. At this point she had weened herself. However, at three months it was time to start bottle feeding as I had troube producing enough from the pump and my work schedule did not realistically allow for adequate breastfeeding. The times we spend together I would nurse and at school she would get formula. This was a difficult journey as she was not too keen on the idea of a bottle. I tried many different priced and styled bottles from dollar store brand to very high end, preemie nipples to slanted tips. Finally, I found the Breastflow by The Early Years. She was hooked and I'm a little nervous to admit still at 23 months drinking from her Breastflows (only at sleepy times though, now)!
There are two sizes, 5 and 9 ounces. The nipple is a unique shape and it is actually made up of two nipples, one inserted within the other. This gives baby control of the amount that is released and replicates the mothers breast. They are relatively inexpensive or at least comparable to other bottles and can be bought in singles or packs. The cap interlocks to the bottom of the bottle so it won't get lost while the bottle is being used. The only downside that I have found with these bottles is the cleaning up aspect: they don't really fit into the bottle dishwasher containers that one can buy and they take more effort to clean because there is the extra nipple that has unique grooves. The best way to clean would be in the dishwasher and to boil every-so-often.
Please consider these bottles, after all, baby knows best and baby says breast(flow)!
