I have used this for my second child with health issues and never missed a sound it is so clear it sounds like they are in the same room! I used a more expensive one for my first child and it didn't last. So I got this as a gift and I love everything about the first years monitor. It has been going strong since 2006 and it is still clear. I have only once picked up other sounds i think from a cordless phone but overall i wouldn't waste your money on any thing else.
