Before I start this review, I have to confess something. This is my favorite movie of all time, and I've seen it 36 times since it came out in 1997. But I assure you, this will be an unbiased review. Even though I will be praising it, it will only be because it really is a good movie.

Plot: In the very distant future, a cab driver, Korben Dallas, is unwittingly thrown into a series of events that will ultimately determine the fate of the Earth. He must find a legendary cosmic weapon to stop the incarnation of pure evil from destroying the planet.

This movie has it all. Action, romance, drama, and blue skinned aliens. It was written and directed by the incredible Luc Besson. Bruce Willis gives a great performance along with Milla Jovovich, Gary Oldman, Chris Tucker, Tommy Lister, Luke Perry, and Ian Holm. The directing is spot on, the special effects and CGI(computer generated images) are amazing, and were definitely a step ahead of their time. Bruce Willis really did a great job of getting into character, he's very believable in this one. I'd also have to say this is Milla Jovovich's best performance, much better than either of the Resident Evil movies.

The thing I can't get over is how far they took the fantasy of the movie. All of the costumes, sets, props, all had to be created to fit this movie. Not only that, but they also created an alien language for Milla Jovovich to speak. It's really going that extra distance to make the movie stand out.

This DVD has been part of my collection for a few years now and will most definitely remain there. It's a classic Bruce Willis movie, just set 500 years in the future. By the way, even though it has a PG-13 rating, I wouldn't let anyone under the ages of 15 or 16 see The Fifth Element, due to some nudity and language.

MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for intense sci-fi violence, some sexuality and brief nudity)

Runtime: 2 hours 7 minutes

Rating(out of 10): 8.7

Wow, I'd love to see Fifth Element on a big screen again, especially in HD. What an awesome film! My husband and I both loved it. He still kids me by saying "Where is Lelu?"

This one is also one of my favorites. I didn't discover it until I started researching big screen TVs. Its popular with that crowd for testing for certain issues. But after I saw it the first time, I loved it. I've seen it maybe 20 times.

The Fifth Element is a fave of mine as well!!! Great job on your review - I'm really liking your technique of adding the rating and runtime to the bottom of your movie critiques. Nice idea! Keep 'em coming!
