The Ellen Degeneres show is about the best daytime talk show on the air.  I can't wait to watch the show on my DVR when I get home.  I so look forward to seeing good, clean, entertaining topics that I can relate to.  So many other talk shows deal with depressing or unimaginable topics, it's nice to watch something worth-while.

Since the first show, I have been impressed by Ellen's energy, enthusiasm and genuine caring.  She is actually as excited to see the guests as I am.  She not only interacts with her audience, she encourages them and sometimes takes into account their personal situations and helps them.  She shows special kindnesses to children, charities and causes that are close to all our hearts.  Ellen also adds a human element to her show by sharing her own experiences and photos.  She even gives gifts and has contests that people at home can win.  When I watch her show, I almost feel as though I am in the audience.

Alot of talk shows deal with the more unfortunate situations in today's society, such as drugs, medical illnesses, alcoholism and murders.  Some shows concentrate on the ridiculous like the paternity of some woman's child that's been contested five times or how a man cheated on his wife with his sister's brother-in-law.  I know that these topics need to be discussed.  I know that people tune in to certain shows just to see this type of venue.  I am just glad that there is an alternative.

The Ellen Degeneres show is one talk show that you can turn on and watch.  You don't need to check the topic and then turn the channel.  I have yet to see an episode of this show that I didn't enjoy.  I've watched and enjoyed the shows that had celebrity guests that I didn't particularly care for or was not familiar with.  I have even shed tears with Ellen or her guests when tragedies or heart-wrenching topics were discussed.  I went as far as to visit her website, and it was nice.

More talk show hosts should take a cue from Ellen and lighten up their shows.  The majority of the serious television viewers would rather see a light, uplifting talk show than one that leaves them angry or depressed.  People have enough negativity in their lives already.

Nice, yeah? Everyone says I'm the typical girl next door. Most say I am too innocent and naive. I love innocence and I'm more gullible than naive. I just try to make the best of each day and hope to be a blessing to someone. Remember: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but the moments that take our breath away. ~Gigig

Gigi, I'm watching too much TV since I got the DVR. :) I haven't ever watched Dancing With The Stars. I hope Susan stays at least till the finals, if there is a finals. If you like this site, you should try Helium.com. I write there also. There are writing contests and everything. Maybe you could make a little money. Again thank you for the comments, you seem like a very nice person.

That is just too funny! I don't watch a lot of shows on network. I am always on Hallmark, Lifetime, LMN, and Family channel. Since joining Viewpoints in August I have become addicted to this website so I don't watch near as much TV. I haven't even turned my TV on today! Sorry to say, but I'm not reading as much as I used to either but my friends and family say VP is a good outlet for me because I have always had a love for writing and this gives me a chance to showcase my talent or passion.

Oh yeah, she dances and cries and laughs. Right now she's trying to capture George Clooney in a trap outside the studio. She's also got a goofy game called Donuts for Dough. Thanx again.

I watch it sometimes when at my best friend's house. Does she still do the crazy dances when it's coming on? I love the way she tries to straddle the table and then plops down on her sofa Indian-style. A tearful moment was when she pleaded with viewers to help her get the dog back that she adopted and then gave to a friend's daughter. Do you remember that?
