The Eiffel Tower Review Summary

Viewpoints world travelers agree that The Eiffel Tower in Paris, built in 1889, is a site to see! “Something about the tower seems to turn everyone into romantics.” Standing at 1,052 feet tall, the Eiffel Tower can be seen from almost any location in the city. Visitors can also ride up to various levels inside the tower for a “panoramic view of Paris where on a clear day you can see 40 miles” and plenty of picture taking opportunities. Reviewers warn that it does get crowded, especially on the weekends, so try to plan an off-time to visit. “Make sure you put this on your list of places you must see in your lifetime.” Can’t make it to Paris just yet? Then visit the smaller version of the tower in Las Vegas! If you really love the Eiffel Tower, why not build the whole thing out of Legos!

The Eiffel Tower, who can think of Paris without it coming to mind? And it is a magnificent sight! The first memory I have of it I was only 4 and it seemed sooooo big, funny thing is, it still is! — — A LITTLE HISTORY — The Eiffel Tower, was constructed from January 1887 to March… read full review »

Bottom-Line: If you are planning a trip to Paris, France, do put the Eiffel Tower on your list of must visits if only to say you touched it.  — There is a reason Paris, France is often called the "City of Lights," and heralded as "the" place for lovers and aspiring artists and writers;… read full review »

Coming out of the Metro stop nearest our hotel in Paris I looked to the left and saw the ultimate icon of this beautiful city: The Eiffel Tower. It seemed that we could see the Eiffel Tower from wherever we were, as long as we were out of the Metro and above ground! On our four day trip to Paris, I made sure to take the time to gaze upon the Eiffel Tower whenever I could. — About the Eiffel Tower — The story is pretty well-known: Built for the Paris Exhibition in 1889, and named for french engineer Alexander Gustave Eiffel, the tower was originally considered an eyesore. There was… read full review »

I've been to many attractions that are impressive to see, both man made and natural, and this blew them all away.  It's sheer size and artistic presence just astounded me.  Pictures really don't do it justice.  — Many times when you see a major tourist attraction, like the Grand Canyon or Mount Rushmore, they do have the instant wow factor, but they weren't anything to the Eiffel Tower.  Maybe it's the combination of Paris and everything about that great city that just adds to the experience.  — Make sure you put this on your list of places you must… read full review »

I love to go to France, and especially Paris. I guess, the fact that I speak fluent French doesn't hurt at all. I love to visit the Eiffel tower, because this is a symbol of France. And they're proud of it, believe you me. On a whole, French people are very proud people. I guess, because of their rich history and culture. It doesn't offend me, but I know, that this is a reason, that a lot of americans don't care that much about… read full review »

Ahhh Paris.... the fresh bread, the stinky cheese, the sound of french accents everywhere you turn! Perhaps the most iconic part of Paris is Le Tour Eiffel. This is a must see. I would recommend stopping by around dusk and heading to the second level to watch the city lights come on. Then, grab a bottle of wine and a blanket and find a spot on the lawn to watch locals at play. They'll be music, acrobats, and plenty of friendly conversation. Most travelers don't know that this is where Parisians come to relax after a hard day's work. You'll be amazed at the number of people that travel to this… read full review »

I've been to Paris a handful of times and love the Eiffel Tower, talk about an icon. Though I don't recommend going up, time consuming and boring, the surrounding parc is great. Stop by at the neaby Rue Cler, best market in Paris, for some supplies (lots of interesting cheeses) and have a picnic on one of the lawns behind. — — Notice how many Parisians and how few tourists are doing the… read full review »

Yes, it's crowded. Yes, the lines are long. Yes, there are beggars who try to get money from you. Yes, it costs too much to ride the elevator. I couldn't care less. — — The Eiffel Tower has meant PARIS! to me all of my life. Once I finally saw it with my own eyes, I knew I'd finally made it to the city I'd dreamed about since I was a little girl. My husband took me to Paris for our 20th anniversary and it really was a dream come true. I loved seeing the tower from different places in the city. And I loved eating at Altitude 95 in the Tower where we had a window table and watched… read full review »

When I went to Paris. I used to walk evryday to the eiffel tower. I don't know how much it cost now to go up the stairs but 20 years ago it was 35 or 50 francs I really forgot. It was a 15 minute walk from my hotel where I stood at Rue Duvac( that the street it was at )I loved the park it was beautiful so was the tower. At night it was gorgeous. Just that the ark was being fix or painted I don't remember but it was covered for repairs. The gas station were in the ground. they park the cars on the streert and They have a store like Macy's called Le Galleries which I went everyday. All the… read full review »

Paris is a great city, and the Eiffel Tower is the symbol of Paris. The first trip I made to Paris, I looked at the tower from the bottom because the line was long and there were other things to see. This was not a bad decision, and is something I recommend if you are tight on time. — The second time around, I decided to take the trip to the top. It was a slightly overcast day in September, and the line wasn't too bad. — I went up on all three levels, and took pictures from each direction on each level. Overall, the view is the same from each level, with the things that… read full review »

This is the Eiffel Tower people.  What can you say about it?  It is amazing to see in person after seeing it as such an icon in movies, photos and on TV.  The sparkling light show is awesome at night too. — — If you are debating whether to go all the way to the top, it isn't worth it for the view.  The second plateform is good enough.  However, you may consider it worth doing just to say that you did.  Just know that it can get crowded up there. — — And one last hint for the romantics considering proposing:  those platforms are… read full review »

The Eifel Tower is to many the epicentre of romatic Paris. Standing on the top of the Tower with a loved one to watch the sun set over Paris, is one the things you absolutely have to do before you die! — — Despite its epic nature, the Eifel Tower also has its drawbacks. Long lines can form during the summer months and during the weekends in Spring and Autumn. Reserving your ticket over the internet can save you alot of queueing time! — — Also make sure that you use the elevator to go up. Allthough it might sound cool to proclaim back home that you "climbed" the… read full review »

The Eifel Tower is as beautiful in life as in art. One truly appreciates the scale when standing beneath it, and it is a lovely greeting to the city of paris as it can be seen enroute from the airport. Although the trip up the eiffel is not covered by the museum pass, it is an affordable amount. The only thing that put me off, besides the hieght, were the slew of gaurds, dressed in camoflage and carrying machine guns. Is such a thing really necessary? It surely is intimidating, but also assures a level of security as I am continuosly bombarded with signs warning against pick pockets. The walk… read full review »

I was in Paris alone last June before taking a train to the north of France for a wedding in Lille.  I took the subway over to the Eiffel Tower area, and I climbed the stairs all the way to the 2nd floor.  The climb was tiresome, but the view was worth the trouble.  You can see modern downtown from afar, which is an awesome contrast to old world Paris!!  I loved it so much that I went back two days later when some friends met up with me in Paris!!  A must see for any world traveler! — … read full review »

I love Paris with its enchanting castles, impressive museums, its bistros, its cathedrals and most of all, its towering Tour Eiffel, a symbol of France.  I recommend that you visit Paris at night  when the Eiffel Tower is well lit and looks marvelous.  In the morning, though it is impressively large, it looks like a tall metal tower, no more no less. However, it is a symbol of France and for the longest time it was the tallest structure in Europe so do plan to visit and take plenty of its… read full review »
