I remember watching the Dick Van Dyke show as a little girl. Rob, Laura, Sally, Buddy, Ritchie, next door neighbors Jerry and Millie and the rest of the Alan Brady show were a part of my life. I remember being very upset when my mother told me that Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore were NOT married in real life! Now, as an adult and a mother, my daughters and I have enjoyed watching episodes of this wonderful, warm series.
Dick Van Dyke is an excellent slapstick comedian. Mary Tyler Moore is wonderful as his wife and straight man. This series joins the likes of the Andy Griffith...
read full review »The show originally aired in the 60's. The sitcom is based on three tv writers Rob, Buddy and Sally. Dick Van Dyke (Rob) is the main character and his wife Mary Tyler Moore along with their son deal with the issues of the day. Rob comes across ackward (tripping over an ottoman in the opening). The Dick Van Dyke show represents a wholesome show and broke some of the "rules" of the day:. Mary Tyler Moore wearing pants. The show ran for 5-6 years and has been in syndication on cable networks
Watching this show introduced my to other t.v. programs of that time. I have a great love for most of the shows and the music of that period. Rob to me was so funny. Such a loving husband and father. I always though that was how married life would be. Still looking for someone like Rob. Who's kind, hardworking, with a great sense of humor. The entire cast complimented each others performance.
I love the Dick Van Dyke show, wish they had more comedy's like it...I always watch the reruns and can recite every word, my dad was a big fan and always remember watching it with him, brings back happy memories. Love the characters
