Shauna Macdonald and Natalie Jackson Mendoza play in The Descent.

Plot:  Six women go to a remote area to explore a cave deep in the woods.  What they find is beyond their worst nightmare and very real.

What I thought:  Many words come to mind when describing The Descent, but one sticks out in my mind; "Ew!".  Then of course there's gross, disturbing and creepy.  The Descent is not so much scary as just plain gross.  What starts out as an exciting outing in the beautiful Appalachians, turns into a gory blood bath.  This was a film made for and by the special effects crew.  Not much directing or writing was needed for this film.
You definitely don't want to watch The Descent at night, by yourself, or out in the boonies.  Lock your door and don't watch with anyone asleep in the next room as they may wake up and scare the begeezes out of you.

The Descent Snack Attack:  None.  The bloodiness of this movie will truly shock you into a stupor until long after the movie is over.

In response to Fardreamer's comment from Dec 21, 2008 at 1:30PM:

Oh wow, I didn't even mention that part. I guess I was just so shocked about how bloody this was and more in a cheap way than like war movies. Well the creatures are like human things that have gone back on developing and are all white I think and slimy and live in the dark. They're creepy.

Okay...I'll bite (figuratively speaking). Is the scary stuff supernatural or is it sort-of realistic as in "Deliverance"?
