The Daily Reflector is the local newspaper based in Greenville, NC. When I was younger, I just read it for the comics, Dear Abby, and horoscopes, but now I read almost all of it except for the sports section. It has a good blend of local, national, and international news. Since my parents and I have lived here all our lives, we find out about the passing of friends and family in the obituaries. Sometimes, there are too many sales papers, but I did find my much loved Internet provider through an ad in the paper.
As our area becomes less rural, the newspaper still maintains a balance between the old and new by covering the area's past with old photos and the new with snippets about new businesses. The entertainment section, which I love in USA Today, is acceptable, but I'd rather have USA Today's. One good thing is people bond over stories in the paper by asking "Did you see this particular article?". Some people subscribe to the Raleigh paper, the News and Observer, but I prefer this one. I still read Dear Abby and the comics which reminds me of reading the comics when I was a child to my grandmother. That is really what the paper is about, the best of Eastern North Carolina.
