The Daily Bible —

NIV The Daily Bible
In Chronological Order
by F. LaGard Smith

I’ve been interested in reading the Bible chronologically for many years. However, I was not sure what to expect from this type of Bible. This was until my aunt recommended that I get NIV The Daily Bible. I looked over her Bible and to my surprise, it was like reading a novel. I bought my Bible a few years ago.

The Bible is broken down in paragraphs. This is the most helpful Bible I have ever found. I have a clearer picture of the stories in the Bible. It also helps me to keep on a daily schedule in reading of the Bible. Not only is this Bible in chronologically order, but it is a New International Version (NIV). One of my favorite translation is the NIV.

About The Daily Bible~
NIV The Daily Bible
has daily readings so you can read the entire Bible in one year or at least try. You will read the Scriptures in chronological order the way the events actually occurred. This Bible is divided into 365 easily readable sections. On each page of the Bible, the days of the year are printed. This way you know what pages to read and when. These readings vary in length and most of them are less than five pages long.

NIV The Daily Bible gives a brief narrative of what you will be reading each day, which is shaded in gray. Each narrative is written to go with the Scriptures, which is written in present tense. It has historical explanations of what was happening during that time of history. The Bible chapters and verses are placed in the margin for easy reference. There is an index in the back of the book to help you locate certain verses.

NIV The Daily Bible comes in hardcover and it has 1713 pages. You can order this Bible online at amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com, which will cost around $19.13 to $28.99 plus S&H.

My Viewpoint
It took over a year to read NIV The Daily Bible. Just because there are days of the year printed in the Bible this doesn’t mean you have to read it on that day. In our busy lives, it is easy to get behind on the daily readings. You can start and stop whenever you want with this type of layout. Just do what I did, bookmark it and pick up where you left off. Reading this type of Bible is like reading a novel.

Reading the Bible in chronological order has really opened up the Scriptures to me. I have a greater understanding of God's word. The historical and background information is in a format that is easy to understand. My favorite books have always been Psalms and Proverbs. It is very helpful reading Psalms next to their historical narratives and that the Proverbs are grouped according to subject. I’ve learned new things about God and his son, Jesus Christ. NIV The Daily Bible is an excellent way to introduce or reintroduce you to the Bible.

I highly recommend NIV The Daily Bible to anyone that has read the Bible, who is NOT familiar with the Bible, or just wants to read an excellent history story. Either way you will learn something new. It will change your life. It is the most interesting story I’ve ever read. I’ve started to read NIV The Daily Bible over again. I wish I had this type of Bible years ago! I give it 5 stars! Enjoy!

Listed below is my review that I wrote on a Study Bible. Enjoy!

Notice the Cyber Twin award I gave you earlier? I am also doing a Bible-In-A-Year book review. I thought I was going to have to complete it first but then I realized I could review it once I got an overview.

Good review--just be sure that books you choose provide clear, sound and precise doctrine.

Very thorough review. :)

Very interesting review. I've never heard of this version, but it sounds easier than trying to read the actual Bible itself. I tried to do that once. Didn't get very far though.

Good job on your review. I read the NKJ or NIV versions, usually. This sounds like a good basic info approach to the Bible. ;>
