The Dailey Method is an amazing workout studio that recently opened in Bucktown right on Damen Avenue! The instructors are sculpted, in shape and motivated to make you work hard during your class. The classes are set in a studio space that is very clean and inviting. Once you walk into the studio you'll quickly check your name off the list, walk into the studio and grab a pair of 2 lb or 3 lb free weights, a small medicine ball, and an orange belt. The Dailey Method plays upbeat music during class and the instructor typically wears a headset so you can hear them clearly. Everyone else is dressed in comfy t-shirts, tank tops, capris, shorts and/or pants.
One wall is covered in mirrors and all four walls include a ballet bar. The ballet bar is used for intense stabilization, calf, glute and inner thigh work. Trust me, this is an awesome workout that will make you shake because your muscles are working so hard! I never took ballet and there is absolutely no need for previous dance experience. The bar is there to make you stronger, leaner and more fit. The rest of the class is filled with free weight excerises to sculpt your arms, floor work to tone your glutes, push ups, planks and many crunches. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. You'll notice that they will come over and correct your movements if you don't quite have the move right. (Not to worry, they are really nice about it and are there to help you)
Ok this sounds great, right? But maybe you're not so sure you're into paying big fees for a studio class. Never fear, The Dailey Method is here! This studio gives many options for new customers without making a long term committment. For example: You can sign up for a one hour class for only $20 to check it out. However, I would highly recommend (and this is what I ended up doing myself) purchasing the new client unlimited month special for only $100. If you think you'll go 5 times in one month, then this is the better value. Other pricing options can be found on their Web site.
The classes are challenging and you will definitely be sore the next day.
One more thing.... classes get really crowded, so you need to go early to get a good spot. I wish they would open up another room since it has become so popular because it's not enjoyable lifting weights and thinking you're going to hit the girl next to you. Hopefully, they will gain enough feedback and open two classes at the same time to avoid overcrowding.
