All the hype about this book by religious groups is over-rated. This is a great book of fiction that has a big historical background. It would be interesting to visit the places mentioned in the book to see how the book's descriptions stack up. The book is definitely much better that the movie. The movie was very dark. It was quite difficult to understand the characters in the movie. If I had not read the book first, I would not have understood the plot to the movie. Read the book and forget the movie!
