The red cotton exterior is attractive enough that you don't have to sacrifice aesthetics for functionality.  This set is not something that you have to hide away unless you want to.  I really like that the Holiday Dinnerware Storage Set comes with dividers for all of the plates.  I was worried that just stacking them would cause scratches or even chips, but now I don't have to worry about it anymore.
