I have been a fan of this show since the beginning. It is probably the only show on television that I make a point to watch every episode live while it airs. In the day and age of on demand and tivo it's not as common anymore for people to actually make a night out of a TV program.. But with the offerings that TNT has given for Monday night with "The Closer" and "Saving Grace" It's a can't miss evening.
At first glance this would be a run of the mill cop show. Yes it is, but it is hardly run of the mill. The story lines are interesting, carefully thought out and in some cases absolutly brilliantly written. I find myself trying to figure out who done it right along with main character Brenda Lee Johnson played by Sedgwick.
Brenda Lee is a recent transplant to LAPD major crimes unit. Where she is charged to solve some of the most outrageous crimes that LA County has to offer. Brenda is a closer, CIA trained closer. Her job is to get that confession. Which she does with grace.
Kyra Sedgwick is absolutly perfect as Brenda. She brings a quality of compassion to the character and you actually find yourself invested in her story and her constant and unrelenting pursuit of the truth, good bad or indifferent. Powerful in her convinction and poise yet there is a quiet undertone just enough flaw to not only make her human in the viewers eyes, but have the viewer see a bit of themselves in the character. And that is rare these days to create that type of bond with a viewer.
This is a must own in my opinion
