The Closer Review

The Closer is one of the most clever and engaging TV shows I have ever watched.  I am a fan of mysteries and the style of The Closer is unique.  Each episode is a story unto itself and yet there is also at the base the relationships between the members of the squad.  The squad has developed from a group that was totally opposed to their new deputy chief to a team that would follow her into the depths and defend her to the death - or the loss of their jobs.  Brenda uses her intellect to figure out the perpetrater and then a way to get the perp to confess - it is always entertaining to see how she does it.

Each member of the squad brings their own special characteristics, skills, and talents to bear on each crime.  These people are not automotans but each also has their own foibles and flaws that also contribute to the whole.  As one set of their commercials talks about, they are like a family - with pluses and minuses.

I also enjoy watching the perpetrators - who always think they are sooooo smart.  Brenda is always able to figure out their weak spot and get a confesson - well, not always.  On a few occasions, she is unable to prove their guilt but finds creative ways to bring them to justice.
