The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian Review Summary

After seeing the new sequel to Chronicles of Narnia, viewers report "the first was great; this was good, could have been better." Reviewers caution that if you haven't seen the first film, Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, it might ruin it for you to see its sequel, Chronicles of Narnia: Prince of Caspian beforehand. Seeing both, however, it seems the second film has more subtle parallels to Christianity than the first. Those that have read the C.S. Lewis books the films are based on are split on how closely they're followed. Newcomer Ben Barnes is "captivating as Prince Caspian." It is cautioned that there are some battle scenes in Chronicles of Narnia: Prince of Caspian, so that should be considered if allowing young children to see it.

My mom and I saw The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and we loved it, so we were looking forward to seeing the second in the series The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.  If you have not seen the first film, stop reading this review right now because it will ruin it for...

My husband and I are surprised to find any positive reviews of this film by people who have actually read C.S. Lewis's book. "Prince Caspian" the movie basically borrows character names and a few scenes from the book and changes everything else, including the strong Christian themes of nobility, chivalry,... review »

Being a long-time fan of C.S. Lewis' Narnia books, I was delighted when The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe came out.  With the recent release of Prince Caspian, my delight continues.

Before I saw this movie, I had a few friends tell me, "It's not as good as the first one."  They lied.  The story didn't stray too far from Lewis' original plot, the acting was superb and the computer graphics were amazing.  I also enjoyed the fact that the parallels to Christianity were a bit more subtle than the first film.  It makes one think more this way.

It was good to see Warwick Davis on the screen again...

Fans of the books will be delighted to see Narnia come to life once again. The delight soon is replaced by darker emotions, as this chapter deals with a Narnia that has dealt with ten generations of conquest by invading humans. The story involves the title character, hopeful to restore old Narnia, summoning help in the form of the four heroes from the previous book/film.

The story is a little uneven, which is not unexpected considering the source material (alas, it was not the best book in the series). In order to pad things out, there is a large section in the middle made up just for the film....

So I have been a Chronicles of Narnia fan since I was young, but I haven't read Prince Caspian since then...I saw the movie with 2 who had recently read the book and of course, like most book-to screen adaptations, for them there were a few dissapointments.

The most tragic are when the depth and most poignant elements of the book are missing in the film.

But, as a movie, it is fantastic. Well made, great cast, engaging, long but it doesn't feel like it, and appropriate for all ages, if your children are ok with battle scenes a-la LOTR.

I don't want to give any spoilers here, so I'll just say...

Prince Caspian was one of the worst book-to-movie adaptations eve to be done. I would say the only worse one was Princess Diaries. I don't understand what happened. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was so good!

You have to understand, I'm a HUGE C.S. Lewis fan, and I'm also a purist. So when they destroyed the plot and characters of one of my favorite series, you see how I might be upset. So many things were wrong with this movie that I don't even know where to begin...I suppose I should start with Susan. Let's get something straight: SUSAN DOES NOT LOVE CASPIN. SHE DOES NOT KISS HIM. SHE IS...

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

This Movie is the best. i bought it for my husband last year for Christmas. He was the one that bought the first movie which was the best too & we just had to see what happens in this movie. one day after Christmas last year we sat down to watch this movie with our 7 month son. our son loved it, he kept smiling & laughing, it's funny to see a 7 month baby sit up all by himself being good while watching the movie. this movie is similar to the first one which ends with a war. it's ashame after this movie they didn't make another one, i really liked...

I was very excited when I hard that The Chronicles of Narnia series by C.L.Lewis was being brought to the big screen. As a child I borrowed these books from the library so much they were almost my own. As an adult, I purchased my own set and have reread them several times. I was very impressed with the first film and even more so with the second edition to this franchise, The Chronicles of Narnia : Prince Caspian.

I am very happy to say that the movies have stayed very close to the storylines portrayed in the books. It's hard to find a series like that anymore. The animation and graphics were...

Prince Caspian is the latest of Disney's releases of the timeless Chronicles of Narnia by Christian author C. S. Lewis.  Disney creates a land right off the pages of the children's story and bring the characters to life before our eyes. The classic good-vs-evil battle is laden with bravery and fear, faith and doubt, It is full of action but not inappropriate for younger children. Even though it is best enjoyed after seeing The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, it can stand alone as an excellent film for all ages. I highly recommend reading the 7 books of the "Chronicles of Narnia" for more adventures.... review »

The Chronicles of Narnia-Prince Caspian is a great movie for the whole family.  I've read all the book in the series and just like the first movie, this one follows along very well.  It's great to have movies like this to help children learn to love reading.  When they can read a book, and then see it protrayed so well on screen, it just helps improve their imagination.  I'm really hoping the next movie is Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  If you haven't read the books, you should. (Though I'd warn that some are quite odd)  Watch the movies as well!

This generation of Narnia is surprisingly horrible, where people believe that Narnians are extinct. Peter actually disappointed me a bit, with his bad choices, and there were the ups and downs of the movie, where the Narnians seem to be losing the battle against the Telmarines.
Also, newcomer to Narnia, Ben Barnes cast as Prince Caspian, is YUMMY! Although, I was a bit upset when I learned Peter and Susan wouldn`t be going back to Narnia and that Prince Caspian would be the King.

Prince Caspian was amazing! The opening scene can be a bit confusing or disturbing to those with young children. However, the overall film was very well done! I am looking forward to more films based on the CS Lewis Chronicles of Narnia series. There are several scenes which will inspire you with their valor and honor. There is purpose to their battles and it is something greater than themselves. Something we could all learn from!

I would HIGHLY recommend this movie to anyone!

I love "kids" films, since I see so many of them with my own kids.  I also find them to be more all-around entertaining than most "adult-themed" films.  This is no exception.  Ben Barnes was captivating as Prince Caspian.  My children and I found it to be entertaining, fun, and very enjoyable to view.  Is it awesome?  No.  Would I go see it again?  Yes!!

I never get to go to the movie theater to see anything.  However we made a special effort to see this.  It was great and I loved it.  I have a 8yr old daughter who saw the first one and loved it however we will wait to let her watch it because it was a little intense for her at his time.  When she is a little older we will rent or bu it for her to see it though.  We absolutly loved it.

Prince Caspian, the latest movie  in the Chronicles of Narnia series. Based on the second novel in C.S. Lewis's beloved CHRONICLES OF NARNIA series, PRINCE CASPIAN finds the four Pevensie children--Peter,Susan,Edmund, and Lucy. The movie is good not great, has really good action scene's though I felt like they rushed through the movie.
