Catcher In The Rye is, in my opinion, one of the greatest books ever written.

Holden Caulfield is a character that most people can relate to. His daydreams are often hilarious, but most times you can't help but find yourself agreeing with him. He has thoughts that I think everyone has at some point in...

The Verdict:  After reading The Catcher in the Rye I have decided to give up on reading the classics. Yawn city.

Just the Facts:  I'm not honestly sure what prompted me to read The Catcher in the Rye.  I think it was all the people who raved about it.  Perhaps the feeling that I should read it simply...

I had to read "The Catcher in the Rye" twice, once in high school and again in college.  I was bored out of my mind both times.  The main character is annoying and whiny.  The plot is dull and just sort of meanders on and on, never really going anywhere.  I would never recommend this book to anyone!

love it. holden caulfield is one of the best characters ever written. in addition to his hilarity and brute honesty, there's something telling about the ways by which he critiques his society--and also falls prey to it. something to discuss, something to reveal more about yourself. read it. it's a classic and more than that.
