The Bucket List Review Summary

The Bucket List, a movie about two men with cancer facing their own mortality, will have you laughing and choking back tears. Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman are the perfect actors to pull off this modern day Odd Couple. Such a unique relationship between men hasn't been since since Brokeback Mountain. Told they only have a few months to live, they make the most of their time by completing tasks on their Bucket List, from skydiving to trips to Cairo. While more famous critics have panned Bucket List, Viewpoints moviegoers disagree as a whole. They really warmed up to these two men as they ultimately work on their individual relationships.

— To the PointWe knew before we saw The Bucket List that it had gotten mixed reviews but we wanted to see it anyway. When my husband turned 60 he had some sort of epiphany- not to put off what we can do now. The Bucket List sounded like lists we have made. — A Closer Look — The… read full review »

A delightful and humorous movie about two terminally ill men. The two men are the odd couple of the health industry. One is a mega-millionaire and CEo of an HMO,estranged from his family, while the other man is a simple auto mechanic and small time family man with hopes of a good future for his… read full review »

For my 200th Review I decided to try my hand at a movie review: — — I don't review movies often but I am going to take a stab at it for The Bucket List. It is a movie that will have you laughing and choking back tears. Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman are the perfect actors to pull off The Bucket List. — — My Take on The Bucket List — — Edward Cole(Jack Nicholson) plays the part of a man with cancer and has 6 months to live. His whole life has been about the all mighty dollar and he wants for nothing, except a family to share his life with. He… read full review »

Spending some time discussing cancer in our family, with my daughter's 6th grade classmate leaving school because of Hodgkin's, and my son doing a lesson in Biology on cancer, it caused me to spell out for them all the people they have known in their lives that have had cancer, both those that have survived and those that have lost the battle. The list was so numerous, it was surprising. Now, seeing The Bucket List, a movie about two men with cancer facing their own mortality, it makes me sit back and think. — — Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman play Edward and Carter,… read full review »

While none of us want to admit to our own mortality, we are all aging.  And this movie takes the real issue of aging, addresses it and puts a humorous spin on it.  It kind of breaks the taboo of not suggesting that we aren't going to be here indefinitely to complete everything.  It is an encouragement to prioritize.  And the combination of characters as well as the actors portraying the characters is highly refined chemical genius...These men are aging, but still vital, still thinking, still active, and somewhat crochety which gives every opportunity for good old fashioned… read full review »

The Bucket list is in certain ways very hard to watch, but at the same time you find yourself laughing out loud at the conversations between these two great actors, Jack Nicholson, and Morgan Freeman.  This movie is about two elderly men who both meet for the first time in the same hospital room, after they both have discovered they have terminal cancer.  Both Morgan, and Nicholson give stellar performances in The Bucket List, this is a MUST SEE… read full review »

The Bucket List deals with issues about what really matters in life when given a timeline to death.  Two old men, played by Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson, are told they only have a few months to live and they decide to make the most of their time by completing tasks on their "bucket list." From skydiving to trips to Cairo, the men find not only the adventure they are seeking, but a sense of rebirth as well.  For the movie viewer, we are faced with questions that we normally like to keep in denial, such as whether we married the right person, if we should mend rifts… read full review »

I've been a long time fan of Jack Nicholson and have felt that Morgan Freeman is one of the most underrated actors in motion pictures today. The Bucket List tells the story of two opposites of society, who are thrown together in the same hospital room by the same illness. Both are given the worst of all prognoses. From there, the fun begins. But this film is not just about the adventures they partake in, but also the relationship that carries them to the ultimate end. I am waiting for the DVD so I can see the extra features. Nicholson and Freeman seemed to have a lot of respect for each… read full review »

Jack Nicholson plays a very wealthy man (Edward Cole) owner of many hospitals, becomes terminally ill, and is checked in to one of his own. They refuse to give him a private room and is roomed up with Morgan Freeman(Carter Chambers) a hard working mechanic who is also terminally ill. While under going their treatment for cancer over a few months time they become good friends and both descover that they only have a few months to live. With Edward Coles money and Carter Chambers list of things he would like to do before he dies they leave the hospital and go on an adventure… read full review »

I loved this movie.  I am a die-hard Jack Nicholson fan and wanted to see this movie because he was in it.  I had to drag my friends along - especially my boyfriend.  It didn't get good reviews so no one wanted to go see it. — It is a feel-good movie that will make you laugh and cry.  At the end of the movie I think at least half (of the totally packed) theater was wiping their eyes. — I can't wait to buy this movie when it comes out on DVD! —… read full review »

Life is a gift and that is why they call it (a) the present! The "Bucket List" is one movie that really makes the viewer question his/her own mortality. This movie is a real "eye-opener" and that is exactly why I went to see it. I was not disappointed. In fact, I recommend that everyone see this movie. It may very well be just "the ticket" you need to get your own life in order, whatever that may mean to you. — For myself, this movie really hit home. I lost my best friend to terminal cancer three years ago. On October 14, 2007, my twenty-nine year old niece, Adina, passed.… read full review »

My mom and I went to this movie with no expectations.  I do not personally like Jack Nicholson, however, he is an extraordinary actor.  However, sometimes I feel he is given the "cranky old man" bits because his personality is that way for real.  It is difficult to see his dry humor throughout the movie.  I personally found that his attitude towards his personal assistance hard to take, and not at all funny.  Now, the story is a far-fetch from real life.  But, anything with Morgan Freeman in it is worth seeing just to see him!  Without ruining the whole… read full review »

The Bucket List is a movie that should be seen by all adults 30 years or older.  Jack Nicholson is priceless as an arrogant, wealthy owner of a hospital who becomes terminally ill.  He has established rules that he  must now adhere to since he is a patient in his own hospital, including sharing a room with another person, and that is where we meet Morgan Freeman.  These two characters interact like oil and vinegar in the beginning  of the movie, but till the end, share a friendship that few others can only dream of having.  This is a… read full review »

I went to see Bucket List with my guy and his son. Of course we knew the premise of the movie was going to be dying but I wasn't expecting the ending as it happened. I think it would be wonderful to be able to make a list and be able to carry out all our wishes, if one had the money or a good chum to help out in this area. I loved how the writers put a spin on some of the wishes and the places these wishes were completed. You get one idea into your head and then see someone elses point of view and go "oh, yea! it could happen that way too". I ended up crying but I guess that is my way of… read full review »
