The Break Up Review Summary

The Break Up, starring Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn, has mixed reviews from Viewpoints reviewers.  Although the majority recommend it, there are still a few reviewers saying "there are some laughs, and entertaining moments, but the movie could have been much better." Even some reviewers who like Jennifer and Vince are giving it a thumbs down saying it was "just a ho hum movie". On the other hand, some of our married reviewers say "all couples can identify somewhat with both characters" and felt the movie was funny and true to real-life. Overall, reviewers seem to think it's worth renting. Also look for Jennifer Aniston in Rumor Has It and Office Space. Vince Vaughn can be seen in Wedding Crashers.

To the Point

I rented The Break Up the other night. Hannasdad and I liked it.

A Closer View

I have to say that any movie that I watch and stay awake for has some virtues. This was one of them.

The Break Up stars Jennifer Aniston as Brook Meyers and Vince Vaughn as Gary Grobowski. The story line is not going...

What a waste of time and talent.

While I am not a big Vince Vaughn fan, I do like Jennifer Aniston, who, I believe, has a talent for comedy and drama.

I am not sure if someone was trying to make a Disney movie for adults, but the acting, particularly from Vince Vaughn was childish.

What the picture boils...

The Plot
Gary meets Brooke at a baseball game and the scene ends with him hitting on her a lot and she seems to be falling for it... as the opening credits role we are treated to a photo montage of their relationship. I liked this part a lot. The photos were cute, and some hilarious, but all were very REAL. They had a lot of different pictures showing all the different things Gary and Brooke went through together and it really looked as if they were in love.

Once the credits were over, we see Brooke and Gary living together in a nice little place..... let's just get to the point - they have a huge...

This movie didn't seem to get very good reviews when it was in theaters, but I liked it.

Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaugh have great chemistry in this movie.  I think they made the movie even more entertaining because you could tell they had chemistry.  I thought the scenes where the two of them are trying to compete against each other to try to get the other to move out, were pretty funny and entertaining.  I can even picture a few of my friends to the same kinds of things to each other.

I liked the story line for the most part.  Some scenes were a little far fetched, but still believable. ...

I watched this movie, The Break-Up, on cable. I had heard that this movie was very funny and also the movie where Jennifer Anniston and Vince Vaughn met. I was really hoping that this would be very funny, but the movie was just continual fighting by a couple that could not get along. The whole movie was the two of them fighting while living together. I thought it would proceed to something more interesting, but it didn't. We do not watch many movies and this was a true disappointment. I was glad I hadn't paid movie theater admission prices to see this movie.

The Breakup wouldn't have been near as successful had Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn not been reportedly together off screen during the publicity tour for this movie. The tabloids gave this movie more promotion than it deserved.  How Vince's character could ever be liked by Aniston's character in the first place is beyond me. Then all of a sudden she realizes he drives her crazy. So they break up. Then boredom ensues.  The ending was a bit unexpected as I thought it would have the fairy tale ending that you find in most of these types of movies.

I loved this movie!!! I love Jennifer Aniston too. I can relate to her character. All she wanted was some help around the house and he was an ass by putting her off. I'm married and I love my hubby but dang it would be nice if he too would help me out or if I need something he get the right thing. Towards the end of the show where she is crying from being let down yet once again, I can relate. After a while, you get exhausted and fed up like Anistons character. Which is the reason they break up for good. Its not that easy in real life!!!

When I first saw the trailer for the movie the break up I could not wait to go see it,the trailer for the movie looked hilarious! How could it not ?It had Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn as the lead characters and everyone knows their funny people. So I went to go see it and to my dismay I was totally disappointed with this movie,I swear they only showed the most funniest parts of the movie on the movie trailer,I felt the movie really stunk bad and I have discouraged my friends and family not to waste their money.

Jennifer Aniston has made much better films. the general story line was good. The way it played out was not so good. I liked that they were able to resolve their relationship in the end. It was dissapointing to see how nasty they got during the breakup, with crude behavior on his part and unstable behavior on hers. It wasn't what I thought it would be, definetly not a watch over and over type of movie.

I'm a huge Vince Vaughn fan and this movie just added to it.  Vaughn and Anderson had a great chemistry together and it showed.  The funny one liners out of Vaughn's mouth just kept coming and the singing at the dinner table haaa!  I have watched it several times and I always seem to laugh again and again.  What baby wants baby gets....

Jennifer Aniston and VinceVaughn are two of my favorite actors so I was excited to see this movie, and since they were dating at this time I thought their chemistry would come out in film.  It didn't.  Just a ho hum movie.  Slow going.  Not too much comedy, and the ending.  What was that?

Would have liked a different ending but was a cute show overall.  Aniston is cute as always and vaughn is funny.  Especially liked the scene where he was watching tv and she wanted different amount of food product.  Thought the show has potential to be funnier than it was, but lacked a certain punch.

I liked this movie.  I felt it was entertaining and I thought the acting was decent.  There were many very funny moments.  It is a good movie for guys and gals.  I think all couples can identify somewhat with both characters.

I would see it again.
