Most HelpfulBottom-Line: In the end The Brave One is a rather silly wannabe action movie, wherein the talents of people who should know better are terribly and tragically wasted.
What in the world is going on with Jodi Foster? Does she feel like a victim of life? Since becoming a single mother her movies have...

They could have made a worthwhile movie which makes this attempt all the more dissapointing.
THE BRAVE ONE wants to be controversial, intense and disturbing message movie. Unfortunately it's annoying, insulting. and also far-fetched-and irresponsible to the point that you might roll your eyes with the illogical silliness of it all. ...

When The Brave One came out, there was the natural inclination to compare it to Deathwish, on account of the basic plot: a woman who is the victim of violent crime gets herself a gun and embarks on a streak of vigilantism. read full review »as suggested by my sound bite, the reason I watched this DVD was because Jodie Foster starred in it..she plays Erica Bain, a radio talk-show host who becomes a vigilante killer when she and her fiance are attacked by street muggers; the fiance dies and Erica is badly hurt and hospitalized..
Comparisons with the Charles Bronson movie "Death Wish" are inevitable..in fact this film does follow a very similar plot line..the difference being that there is much more interplay between Jodie's character and the police detective hunting her..Over the course of the film they develop a friendship which is...

When she is in a drama, a comedy, thriller, action movie or romance her characters are completely believable. For me watching her portray a victum of a brutal assult was not only realistic but it hit very close to home. I too was a victum of a very brutal assult and like her I went through many of the same emotions. I could identify with much of what she went through, even wanting to kill the one who had done it to me. But that is where the similarity ends. I can understand and...
