The Bourne Ultimatum  —

I left the theater an hour ago, and my heart is still racing.  I have never been to a movie that had such non-stop action, real heart-pounding, armrest-gripping, jaw-dropping, adrenaline-rushing action and suspense.   This movie was GREAT !   Fans of the tv series "24" will recognize the feeling, but not the severity of enduring it for two hours.   WOW !   Matt Damon starts running and never stops, except to kill someone before they can kill him.

The bad guys (David Strathairn, Albert Finney) are really bad, and Damon successfully makes you care about Bourne as he negotiates his own personal gauntlet while attempting to learn the truth about his past.  Joan Allen - ever the pro - and Julia Stiles add dimension to the film.   The worldwide locations that director Paul Greengrass shot in do the rest.   You'll get a whirlwind (panting, running, screeching, jumping, diving, crashing) tour of Madrid, Tangier, Paris, London, Moscow, New York and more.

I had to look up the budget for this movie the minute I got home.  The-numbers.com says it was budgeted at 130 million but likely went over.   Stay for the credits and you'll think that number is WAY low.   I've never seen such extensive credits (or lists of stuntmen).  Action fans will thrill to the numerous chases, including the coolest trick I've ever seen done in a car, and one heckuva motorbike getaway.   (Reports say it has already taken in 24 million in its first weekend;  this is going to be a big money-maker for years to come)

The Bourne Ultimatum was the most fun I've had at the movies in a long time, and I found myself saying "Oh my God" out loud on at least 3 occasions.

The Bottom Line:  Libby Loves It!

I am a Bourne fan. One of the few movies that hold up to the books in my opinion.

I LOVED Bourne Identity and Bourne Supremacy, so I don't know why I haven't seen the third movie yet. It's in my queue and I was rather disappointed that we didn't catch it on the big screen, but now I'm wondering if I should hit my local video store and just rent it out right.... hmmm

Hi, Libby,

You know I've always been hesitant to see the Bourne series--my fiance loves them, but it takes a special action movie to actually appeal to me. However, after reading your review, I think I might not protest so much next time he asks!

I have not seen any of the Bourne movies but they sound SO good! I'm gonna add the first one to my Netflix queue right now. Thanks!
