The Boppy Company Bare Naked Pillow Review Summary

The Boppy Bare Naked Pillow has been one of the best pieces of baby gear for breastfeeding moms. Although the Boppy Pillow is “not perfect, but helpful,” it doesn't take up a lot of space and is a “great tool for breast or bottle feeding.” Do take note though that the Boppy Pillow doesn't work for all moms, especially those who are taller. But wait there's more to the Boppy Bare Naked Pillow than just a nursing pillow. “Not only is this pillow great as support for feeding, it provides a comfortable area for your baby to sit.” Some moms state they “got more use out of [the Boppy] for the baby than I did for myself.” The Boppy Bare Naked Pillow comes as a plain white pillow that you can add a cover onto, making it washable. This also makes it so you can customize your Boppy Pillow to match your décor or your mood. What other breastfeeding items might you need? Take a look around to see what products other pro-breastfeeding moms recommend.

When my oldest daughter was pregnant with her first baby and my first grandchild last year, it opened up a world of lots of new products on the market for babies to me.  When she showed me her gift registries,  I noticed several new products that were not available when i had my babies.   Some looked... review »

If I could do over I would not have bought this for a nursing pillow. It was big and bulky and most importantly offered no back support like My Breat Friend does. After using the boppy a bit I was really sorry I hadn't bought a pillow with back support.

That said it does have it's uses. I used two in...

A nursing pillow of any kind can make nursing much more comfortable for the inexperienced mom and baby team. The Boppy with removable slipcovers is great because anything that comes in recurrent contact with a baby needs to be washable. You can put your whole Boppy in the washing machine if you slip it around the center pole, but that's only necessary in extreme situations. When those situations do arise, it holds its shape very well but takes a long time to dry. For the ordinary drool and dribbled milk, it's much easier to just throw the slipcover in the laundry and put on another one. My slipcovers...

I've been using my Boppy for 2 months now. It's much easier to nurse with it than without it. Might be nice if it attached in the back like some other nursing pillows I've seen though. Feel like I have to adjust it often when it starts to slip away. Also, a lot of the covers are kinda ugly - who's designing them?? And the covers are quite expensive too. But it is good that they're washable, as every baby item has to be. They wash up very nicely - make sure you have at least two! So overall, I would recommend it. Seems nice and comfy for my baby and keeps him up where he needs to be!

I love my boppy; however, if I were to make a list of what you absolutely need for a new baby - it would not make the cut. Here's why:

First, the boppy isn't built for all sizes. I am on the bigger side and the boppy did not fit comfortably around me. If you are smaller, you will have no problem, but I think they should make a special boppy for those who aren't blessed to be a size 8 after they give birth.

Second, it doesn't really help with breastfeeding all that much. I used it a couple times with the aid of other pillows and such - but the boppy alone could not help me nurse my newborn....

When I was pregnant with my son I received 2 Boppy pillows. After I had my son I realized how great they really were. I gave one to my mom since she would watch my son and I kept the other one. I found them to be wonderful when it came to feedings. They were perfect for propping him up at a perfect angel for bottle feedings. Now my boyfriends sister is pregnant with twins and I have already returned the favor that was passed to my when I had my son and bought a boppy for her and her twins.

I didn't want to go overboard on buying baby stuff, and thought the boppy was just one more marketing gimmick that didn't really serve a purpose.  Boy, was I wrong!

I nursed my baby for the first 2 months without it - I used regular pillows, rolled up blankets, whatever was handy.  It worked, but I found myself having a lot of pain in my wrists and arms from holding the baby up, and in my back from having to lean at uncomfortable angles to properly position the baby.  And my preemie baby only weighed about 6lbs at this point!

I decided to give the Boppy a try.  The first couple of times I used...

I nursed all three of my children, but did not get my first Boppy until I had #3 (my son.)  With my first two children, I learned how to nurse them using regular pillows as support.  Two weeks after having my son, I suffered from muscle spasms in my neck that made it difficult and painful to hold him while nursing.  A friend recommended the Boppy to me, and I decided to pick one up to try it.  I paid $20 for it, but it was worth so much more! I ended up using it at every day-time feeding for the next couple of months and got to enjoy that bonding time with my son regardless of the muscle pain. ...

So, I'm a new mommy...6 months to be exact. My husband and I couldn't be enjoying our little boy more. I was one of those lucky few who had oodles of friends and co-workers and family with babies and kids older then ours who willingly handed over all of their old baby stuff. I mean seriously. I got high chairs, bags and bags and bags and bags of clothes, toys, bottles, gadgets and yes... the boppy. A brand new never used boppy.

I mean when I first saw this thing I was thinking how embarassing that thing is going to be clamped around my husband's waist. Over the last 6 months we have used it so...

This has to be one of the best inventions for first time breast-feeders!  It helps support the baby and get her at the right level so that mom can use both hands to get the rest of the activity squared away (which can be a real challenge at first!).  It is especially helpful for the 'football hold' which is how I fed my daughter for the first few weeks.

After a while I found that the boppy was more of a nuisance to use while breastfeeding than as a helpful support, so now I use it to prop up my baby.  She can face forward on it (in a modified version of tummy time) or more often I lay her...

I thought that a Boppy pillow would be necessary for my baby.  I didn't know how mothers throughout the centuries had survived without one.  I was convinced I wouldn't survive motherhood without one.

Until I acutally used it.

It didn't really go very well.  I'm a nursing mommy, and I just couldn't get comfortable with the pillow.  It seemed  like no matter how I positioned the pillow and my baby, something just wasn't right.  I tried for a few weeks, and then gave up on it.  I found it easier to just hold my baby, and he was (and still is!) a fast eater, so I wasn't hunched over long enough...

The Boppy breastfeeding pillow is wonderful! I took it to the hospital with in case of an episotomy. It can be used to sit on to make the car ride home more comfortable. I was glad I did, because it had to be used. Also most pillows are very flat at the hospital, so this helps to keep the baby at the level of the breast without your arms getting tired. It gets used several times daily and I own two of them. One is kept in the baby's room, for nursing durning the day and the other one is kept in the bedroom. Since she sleeps in our room for the time being, I do not have to wander with the pillow...

Of all the gifts we got at our shower, we loved our boppy pillow the best!

It's a way to rest your weary arms while feeding your baby, by breast or bottle. There are many positions you can use with this pillow to support your baby while you are feeding it so that your arms and back do not tire out. Also my baby loved just laying in the boppy pillow's "Arms" and napping there. You can use it to make sure the baby does not roll a certain way. We also used ours to prop baby's head up while laying down so he could see better even when he couldn't yet lift his head. You can use this pillow for "tummy...

The boppy pillow is great for breastfeeding an infant and many other uses.I used it for propping them up before they can sit up on their own.  My son is now a toddler and he is still using it to snuggle with and prop himself up for a baby einstein video.  Tummy time is so much easier when using the boppy so their face isn't on the floor.  I found that you Must get a cover for it so that is doesn't have to be washed all the time.  Some covers are better than others at not collecting dog hair and dirt.  The covers are very expensive though so I bought one then used it to make others out of material...

The Boppy is one of the best things that ever happened to me as a breast-feeding mom.  With my first child I did not have one because they just seemed to expensive and bulky.  However, with my second I decided that I would have one no matter the cost.  I have never been happier with a baby product.  It was everything that it claimed to be and more.  It is not only useful for breastfeeding, but for propping the baby up.  It is also useful for propping up babies who are bottle feeding.  It is also firm enough that I did not have to worry about suffocation like I would with an ordinary pillow. ... review »

The boppy pillow makes those first months home with baby so much easier.  When I had my kids, we could only use bed pillows that would flatten, usually just as the little one really latched on and we were both comfortable!  The boppy pillow doesn't shift or flatten, and even makes it possible for the new big brother or sister to hold the baby safely supported for pictures, feeding, or just bonding--with you close by but hands free to snap that perfect picture.  If your little one has reflux, or just likes to see what's up, it is a godsend.  Covers are readily available and patterns are easily... review »
