I will never forget watching this movie with two other friends from church in 1982, Memphis, Tennessee when our church had their youth convention. We saw this film, 1941 and Animal House; But out of all of the films, I tend to favor this one the most because of the music which got me to tapping my feet, the adventure, the comedy, the stars etc etc. You just cannot HELP but LOVE this movie.  Saturday Night Live made a great team out of the late John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd; It was a match made in heaven that ended only with Belushi's passing sadly. But this film about a set of brothers Ellwood(Ackroyd) and Joliet Jake(Belushi) Blues, who upon Jakes release from prison, go to the orphanage where they were raised and find out from the sister there that they owe on their property taxes. They decide to get the band they had together and do a benefit concert to help pay the taxes. Well, ok, but no not ok; Not only do they tick off the sister when she sees them, they tick off the law enforcement, the American Nazi Party(by crashing their party and having a high speed chase to the latters detriment), Jakes old fiancee he jilted at the altar, one of the band members wife(Aretha Franklin singing "Think"),and a whole other set of folk, its a high speed, funky, crazy, zany, bumpy ride to one little concert.and getting the money; Of course, in the chase, all Jake and Elwood feel is that they are on a mission from God and goes unscatched from things. Great movie; see it for yourself.

Oh, listen -- where have you been all my life. Sometimes a person gets a little behind reading reviews, especially when you have a lot of friends, fans, etc. and I didn't realize what a gem you were. I will also say that I liked your "15 favorite films" too but for some reason couldn't do a vote or insert a comment on that one. My only complaint is that you had no Spike Lee films on your "Favorites" list. I think he is one of the greatest directors ever and I have seen "Malcolm X" a dozen times probably.

Well, take care, I'm going to read your other reviews later today!
