I'll say it right off the bat: The Beatles by Bob Spitz is the best damn book I've ever read about the Beatles, and I've read dozens. This massive book -- the narrative is 854 pages, and that doesn't include the end notes and index -- simply has more details and a better sense of history than any other book on the Beatles.
