Pros

    eat foods like bacon, supposedly you burn fat for energy, supposedly a healthy diet, no calorie counting

Cons
    I don't think it's healthy long term, hard to stick to

The Atkins Diet — 

The Atkins diet is a great way to jump start your weight loss.  The reason dieticians do not recommend the diet is that they have not taken the time to actually read the book.  If you just go off the news blurbs, then yes the diet sounds awful.  Atkins only recommends the strick carb counting until you get close to your ideal weight.  Eventually, you add carbs back into the diet until you are basically back to a well balanced diet.  You are encouraged to increase your fiber by subtracting it from a food carb count.  There are healthy and unhealthy choises in all diets, you have to decide to be healthy.
