This diet is a great plan it helps you to recognise what foods your body is intolorant to. To get through the first 2 weeks I focused on the fact that I would be able to reward myself with strawberries on the third week. I drank the Atkins shakes, ate well and hunger pangs disappared. It also helped me to research recipes and found that most of these foods were sutible for my son who is autistic- he is allergic to all the foods forbiden on the Atkins diet and then some. We now have more recipes to enjoy and I am able to eat glutten free pasta. Knowing what foods to void (processed foods, flour) most of the time gives me a sence of empowerment. For example I now know that flour based products make me bloted and give me hunger pangs after a few hours, so we eat glutten free, it costs a bit more but we have been buying it for my son for the past 3 years. I do have to say that we are saving money by eating more home made food and that I do have a small amount of regular flour based products like pastries/sweets once every few weeks. As with everything in life we choose and decide how we want to feel. I choose NOT to feel bloated, an empty hole in my stomach, and sleepy and tired after each meal. I do choose to savor my food, feel great after every meal and enjoy each day. ...... Atkins also makes breakfast bars and penut butter cups to help you through the plan. One important thing to remember - if you feel weak, shaky or you platou eat more veggies.
