A Powerful Tool

5

The TI-84 is a very powerful tool. It has a lot of capabilities, including the obvious such as graphing and solving complex equations. However, there are some hidden features in this calculator, including the games you can play on it (ok, they're not the best, but they do exist!) and the equations and formulas you can program into the calculator. I've used this calculator for over 5 years now and I have never been disappointed!

Very Solid Calculator

This is a great calculator! As a student in an advanced calculus course, this calculator serves every purpose I require of it. Even though it is not Texas Instruments' newest calculator, it can do just about everything I need it to do in my course work. No complaints.

This is very complicated but very helpful mathematical tool.

This calculator has always worked very well for me. It doesn't drain the battery too fast and it helps with graphing and lists in math. I personally have used it for Algebra one, Algebra two, and Pre-Calculus, and I know I will have to use it in the next couple of years when I take Statistics, Calculus One, and Calculus Two. It truly makes a huge difference to have a high tech calculator that can help you with the work. This is why I rated a higher number. The only reason I rated a four ( not a five) was because it was very complicated. There is so much that this calculator can help with that if you don't press the right button it will give you a totally different answer. And the book that they send with it is not a huge help so you have to search the Internet or ask someone who knows to find out how to use it properly and get the answer to your math problem. One other thing I really like about this calculator is that the buttons do not short out at all. They have always worked very well.

Life Saver!

I absolutely love this calculator. It is very similar to TI 83 version (which I happen to quite like the similarities.) I have found that TI-89 is just a bit too high-tech for my preferences since I've learned the TI-84 so well. I have also been known to play around and make different designs as a challenge in the graph mode. If you're taking any math class at about Algebra 1 or higher, I'd suggest this for you. I've recently been forced back to my good old TI-32 days because of standardized exam that I have to prepare for but I still revert back to one of my FOUR TI-83/TI-84 calculators whenever possible.

Mathematicians Tool

Now the greatness of the calculator will often go unappreciated by the new generations whom have always had them available, but the graphing calculator goes above and beyond the basics and will often be unappreciated by those whom do not understand mathematics and all the wonderful things this calculator can do. When it comes to buying a good calculator, then Texas Instruments are the standard to which others are held up to. Some will buy a Hewett Packard, but they are not as user friendly and school friendly as the Texas Instrument products. For a mathematician the Texas Instrument 84 is a bare necessity's for doing your work. I would really recommended this calculator for anyone who needs to take calculus, however if you need to take things beyond calculus such as differential equations then I would definitely recommend upgrading to the Texas instrument 89. If your college or school offers it, I would also recommend taking a class on just how to use this calculator and all the great features it has, and if not, then just ask a teacher and they will show you a lot of great tools available in this amazing calculator.

Good and powerful calculator for students

I have always been a big fan of Casio graphing calculators. I have used mine throughout my college years. Yes, it was a long time ago. However, nowadays, only the TI-84 is one of the approved calculators in the high school education. Of course this is not for me but for my kid in high school. We got the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition which has more memory than the regular one. This TI-84 is quite powerful. Not only it can do mathematical graphing and calculation, you can also download and load other applications in it. For example, Chemistry, Physics, Finance, etc. All the communication is by mean of the USB port connected to the computer. My kid should be able to carry it through the college study. The screen is big. However, the resolution is not as fine as my old Casio. It is bulky and heavy mainly because it uses 4 AAA batteries instead of those button batteries in the Casio. Surprisingly the battery life seems to be long. AAA battery is much cheaper than the button battery.

The TI84 is an excellent calculator

I always wanted a graphing calculator. In college, I decided on math for my major, but I still never bought a graphing calculator (poor college student). After college, I started doing some math tutoring and many of my students were required to use graphing calculators for their classes, so I decided to get one. My husband actually surprised me with this for Christmas (I know--math nerd, right?) and I was so excited. One thing I love about all graphing calculators is that you can see the whole screen and do lots of problems, but still look up at the past ones. This calculator is very user friendly and easy to use. You can graph (obviously), solve systems of equations, do statistics, and much more! The down side is the price, but you get what you pay for!

I couldn't live without my TI 84 Plus

5

I bought my TI 84 Plus at the beginning of my freshmen year and it has lasted me and worked perfectly for nearly four years. It was pretty expensive, but with the use that I have given it, it was well worth the price. It can do every math that is needed for high school math courses, for the SAT and ACT, and for any simple math that I do at home. After using this calculator for so long and being able to graph and solve equations without actually doing the work, I couldn't imagine going back and doing calculator work on the computer or on a simple four function calculator. The design and buttons make it very easy to use and hold, and it even has the capability for a lot of great programs and simple games to kill time with. Must buy!

The TI-84 is a Great Value

5

To put it simply, this is the best value and probably the best calculator a high school student should have. But that doesn't mean its use is restricted to high school students; it is a great calculator overall. The TI-89 is considerably more complicated, and those TI-30s aren't packed with enough features. The TI-84 grants you a large array of features that you will actually use, instead of wasting money on incredibly complex programs that you'll never touch. It offers everything you will need, including graphing, solving, and plotting data. It can be upgraded with new programs via USB cable straight from a computer. So it will never be out of date or obsolete. The calculator is quite fast, and you don't have to worry about graphing by hand when you've got this amazing device. I've dropped my TI-84 numerous times and it still runs perfectly fine, no problems whatsoever. It even lets you know when the batteries are low. Simply a great value!

TI-84 Plus Graphing Calculator

5

The Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus is an enhanced version of the TI-83 Plus. It also comes in a "Silver edition." It is mostly the same as the TI-83 Plus; the main difference is a faster CPU and more memory. The TI-84 plus also has a usb port so you can upload various programs onto the calculator. You can have programs for alegbra, finance, statistics and more. Actually, you can even upload games onto this calculator. The TI-84 Plus runs on 4x AAA batteries and one coin cell battery. It was released in 2004 but still remains a valuable tool for math students everywhere. The features of this calculator provides for your basic scientific functions or you can use it for graphing, trigonometry, algebra and even calculus (provided you download the corresponding program). The calculator's operating system can be upgraded which allows for things like faster graphing or a "teacher button" which erases all programs prior to administering examinations.
