Out of all of the TI graphing calculators, this has everything you need through Calculus II, and is very well priced. You can get the silver addition for an aesthetically pleasing case.  You can get the more expensive models, but this really has everything you need.  It is easy to use, and pretty... review »

When the Texas Instruments TI 83 calculator came out (about 7 years ago... or so) it was an amazing thing. Here you could do all sorts of things... graphing, matrices, etc. However, now it seems bulky, slow, and hard to use compared to its newer cousins. To qualify, I have tutored mathematics for years...

The TI 83 is one of the sweetest calculators i have ever seen. I got it 4 years ago and the batteries just recently had to be replaced. It is very helping when figuring out long problems that requires many symbols. I use it most with exponets because it works so easily with those. It is not diffuicult to use at all and i caught on very fast. It even has a cord were u can download new applications and even games. Also if you need to see a graph it is very easy, you just put in the y values and press graph and BAM the graph shows up. I do wish i had a new model of it because i would love to see how...

If you are a high school student, then this calculator is for you. It has everything you need, for algebra, precalculus, and calculus. The good thing about the 83+ is that it is upgradable, so the need for a new calculator doesn't arise, every few years. Purchasing a graph-link can add on a TREMENDOUS amount of programs to use for Physics, Geometry, and even 3D-Graphs, (previously only on the ti-89 and up). If you are in High School, do NOT get the ti-92 or ti-89, because they will probably be banned from standardized tests, and high math classes, so ask your math teacher, because they are...

This is one of the most useful items on my desk.  I use it on  a daily basis and it's much more convenient that my past calculators.  The computer access on the calculator is the most helpful tool I've ever used.  I also want to add that I have had plenty of calculators to measure up,, but none of them have compared!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had this item for several years now now and have never ever had an issue with it.  It takes a bit to learn but once you do, it will do anything you want it to do.  It has served me well, so far so good...but I will keep my fingers crossed!  I actually took a calculator class so that I could get the most out of my calculator.  I needed to use it for all of the math classes that I needed to take for college.

The only problem I have had so far is that I have had to replace the battery one time.

I never would have bought this calculator if it wasn't a requirement for my college algebra class. I also needed it for a Statistics class, and each time I learn a new way to use it I am even more impressed. Although I have listed as a con that it should come with a personal trainer, I understand it is not possible :) The instruction manual is a little tedious, but if you get everyone to show you what they know about it, pretty soon you'll be a master at it, and you'll as impressed with it as I am.

I have the silver version of the TI -83.  I have been using it for several years now and it comes with many different functions.  This machine can serve a variety of purposes - ranging from storage of data, to mathematical computations, to importing downloads from the internet.  When you are bored, you can gauge yourself intellectually and logically challenge yourself to answer complex problems .  This compact device can fit in your suitcase or handbag.

The TI-83 has an excellent set of features, and has much better battery life than the TI-89.  I have both, but I use the 83 for most things aside from units conversion or symbolic integration.  I've owned my TI-83 for years, and dropped it countless times on hard surfaces, and I think it's even gotten rained on a time or two, and it keeps on ticking.

An engineering student would be screwed without a decent calculator. So far it's been good enough for anything I need it to do. The storage is good for cheat sheets that you're not supposed to have and it knows 2+2 is 4 and has a lot of advanced stuff on it. Most of it I've never used but the matrix functions are always helpful.

I love my TI-83 calculator. I've been using it for about ten years now and though it seemed quite expensive at the outset, it has been worth it! I use it almost everyday. I use it mostly for simple math, because the big screen and features make it so easy! And whenever I do need to graph something, it's right there.

We used this calculator a lot when I was in high school. It's high price tag used to scare a lot of people away when I worked in an electronics store. What people don't realize is that this calculator can do anything! You can even upload games. I also continued to use it throughout college and even now.

This is the best calculator i have ever used. The only problem i have with it is that my memory keeps erasing. You can type messages in it, do any kind of math and even play games. This calculator does everything except breathe. I'd be willing to pay the price for a calculator that is as great as a TI-83

The TI-83 Plus is an easy-to-use graphing calculator for math and science that lets students graph and compare functions, as well as perform data plotting and analysis. Its FLASH™ ROM memory allows students to update and add software applications (Apps).
