Better than T3 to be certain

Terminator Salvation —

Terminator Salvation is action packed, filled with tense drama, and some incredible effects. Too bad it ultimately feels somewhat hollow. All me to explain. I liked Terminator Salvation. I enjoyed it much more than the disasterous T3. I thought Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, and Anton Yelchin all delivered performances that really made the movie soar. That said, it felt like ground that we have tread upon in better films. It felt like the producers found the director they could find as the lowest bidder and went with him. McG is not a bad director. However he does stand at a level of mediocrity that really makes you wish he could do more. The movie was missing an emotional core. If you are going to put fantastic actors together in the movie, give them some really great scenes to work and flex their acting muscles in. I don't mean just the three leads. I also mean Bryce Dallas Howard and Helena Bonham Carter who are wonderful actresses in their own right and they are given so little to do. Don't get me wrong here. I enjoyed it. I will even purchase the DVD. McG does know how to stage some pretty spectacular action scenes and they are incredible in their own right. But be warned that there are some jumps in logic that will leave you questioning why they did what they did throughout. I won't spoil what it is exactly that I am referring to as it would ruin the enjoyment of the movie. Bottom line here, go see it if you are a fan of the series. It is clear that McG has a genuine affection and respect for the source material and it shows. I don't blame him. he worked with as good a script as he was delivered. It is a good movie but don't expect something of the caliber of Star Trek and you won't be disappointed.
