When my husband and I still only engaged, we were miserable at night.  His bed was horrendous!  We had to go furniture shopping for other items and we decided to take a look at the mattresses.  We knew we planned to buy a new bed as soon as we were married!  We spent a great deal of time at the furniture store that day testing out the displays of Tempurpedic beds.  We had started looking at regular spring mattresses, but the sales person kept urging us to try the Tempurpedic.  When we finally did, we were both amazed at how it cradeled each of us so well!  My husband and I are both a little heavy, so I was concerned that we would roll toward each other to the middle!  I did NOT want that!  I was told that that would happen if we bought a memory foam mattress, but not if we bought a Tempurpedic.  I wasn't sure what the difference was, so it was time for some research!

After a lot of research online, my husband and I decided to purchase the Tempurpedic Rhapsody bed.  When it arrived, the delivery guys set it all up for us and removed our old bed (thank goodness that was gone!)  I have to admit that the smell was awful!  The bed came with a sheet explaining about the chemical smell of the mattress and it assured us that the smell was harmless and would go away in a few days.  My only real issue with this mattress was that the smell lasted A LOT longer than they said it would.  In fact, I think somewhere near the middle of our 90 day trial, I contemplated sending it back because I was afraid the smell would never go away!!!  Now, I can only smell the chemical odor when I strip off all the sheets and smell the mattress directly!

As for the sleep... it's heavenly!  I have never been so comfortable.  I do not wake up with a backache like I used to.  We had "deep pocket" sheets on the bed, but everyday we had to remake the bed because the sheets came off every night.  So, we bought new sheets that would fit up to a 25" mattress.  This is a must!  The sheets alone were close to $200, but since we invested in the sheets, we love the mattess even more!

Overall, I love this bed.  We bought the queen mattress and foundation and spend just over $3000.  Plus, we spent the money on the mattress protector, since not having it voids the warranty!  It's a pricey bed, but when you consider it has a 20 year warranty instead of a 10-year on a traditional bed, it's well worth it!

Were you able to bargain for the bed or did you pay the price listed on the bed. Also did the salesperson add in any extras to entice you to purchase?
thanks,

Thanks for sharing. My husband and I lay on the tempurpedic in Brookstone almost every time we go to the mall. I LOVE it. I just can't justify the cost when our bed is pretty good and only cost 800$ or so. Thanks for sharing about the smell, I've never heard that before :( I'm glad it finally went away!
