I finally broke down and purchased what I thought would be the ultimate mattress: A tempurpedic deluxe Queen. The bed itself omits this horrible chemical odor and the pillows smell even worse. Within a few minutes of the bed's delivery I developed a headache! I was told by the sales rep that the noxious odor would vanish after airing out the mattress for a few hours. I left the mattress unclothed with multiple fans operating and plenty of fresh ventilation. I repeated this process for a few days each time I left the apartment. Still the odor, the headaches. The mattress didn't stink in the showroom! I decided to check deeper and did more research involving the process behind the manufacturing.
Wait a second here folks. Please note the chemicals used in production of these bedding materials cause cancer in lab animals. What are we sleeping on? The odor is enough to make you sick, headachy and nauseated...what can happen to you over time if this is your initial reaction? How is it that a major company can produce a "luxury" and expensive product with major health risks? I admit the bed and pillows are extremely comfortable but I opt to exchange this mattress for something more user and environmentally friendly. Sorry tempurpedic, I prefer my health to your wealth.
