Tempurpedic Classic Mattress

Comfortable for some, Good spinal support.

Medical experts and chiropractors say the Tempur-Pedic Classic foam mattress provides excellent spinal support; this means it allows your hips and shoulders to sink into the mattress while supporting your legs and waist. However, there's scant evidence that memory foam mattresses are actually healthier, and owners say this type of mattress can take some getting used to. Foam mattresses aren't as "squishy" as innerspring mattresses, and some users say the Tempur-Pedic can feel too firm in cold weather (since the foam reacts to room temperature). Others complain of feeling "swallowed up" and say the mattress traps body heat. There's a competing budget brand of foam mattress, the Bergad Isoform Classic (*est. $800 queen size, plus *est. $180 for box spring) -- but you can't try it out in stores. Even so, owners generally say it's comparable in quality to Tempur-Pedic for less.  We have owned a Tempur-pedic King for two years. It took some time to adjust to the sinking in but we did. Then about 6 months ago my wife began to have back, hip and knee pain. She went to many doctors who were unable to help. About two months ago I began to develop lower back pain. It occurred to me that it might be the mattress. We began sleeping on some old, hard as rock mattresses and presto all our problems disappeared within a week. Apparently it takes quite a while to have problems, if you are going to.

As someone else wrote, it stinks for a while but the smell goes away after a few months. Having used a water bed for the last 20 years, it was a little uncomfortable at first but now I wouldn't trade it for any regular mattress. The pillows are nice too. In fact the only thing about a water bed that is better is they are warm in the winter. Expensive but a good bed that should last a long time.   am about 30 days into my 90 day trial. I have a Grand King. I have already decided that I am going to keep it. I have been sleeping much better and I have to honestly admit that my body aches and pains have diminished. There is a distinct odor, but new cars have a distinct odor as well.

We bought a king size mattress and got two free pillows with it. It has been a week already since we got the mattress and pillows. So far we have used them only once. The mattress and pillows felt very comfortable. And we both woke up feeling great. My problem is that the mattress releases an awful smell. The whole house stinks! My wife seems to be okay with it but I am experiencing great discomfort. I feel mental confusion, anxiety, and have a hard time breathing. By contrast, I must say, I am a very stable person at all levels and consider myself very resilient. We have opened the windows in our bedroom, ran the ceiling fan at full throttle, close all the vents, and basically condemn the room. We haven't use our bedroom in two days. Take into account that we live in Iowa and we are 9 days away from winter. Tonight we have a warm night: 29ºF. We have kept the windows open all the time. The smell remains. I will never feel confident about sleeping on a bed with such an offending odor. I just don't think it is healthy. It bothers me that at the time of the sale we weren't told about it. My wife doesn't know it yet but we're gonna get rid of the mattress and pillows. I am really upset that it worked out this way but the furniture store should had informed us about the odor. That's the bottom line.
