I wrote a review of a Vera Wang mattress we bought for $2,000 and returned after two weeks. We went with the bed I loved from the get go; however, the sticker shock of $3,500 put a halt to the Celebrity Bed by Tempur-Pedic. After really not liking the Vera Wang and starting to feel our ages and aches and pains we bit the bullet. I am sleeping better than I ever have.
A Closer View
This is a foam, memory mattress. Foam is the material used. When I push my hand down on it the materia comes back up.
I am going to explain a couple of the technological terms that are on the website but I'm explaining them in my own words coming from what I learned in the stores. Tempur-Pedic has not patented their technology. The reason that others (such as the Bob-O-Pedic, which at first feel is similar) are so much less than the Tempur-Pedic has to do with the technology that is expensive to make. When I asked about complaints that people said the mattress made them feel warm I was told that most likely people were sleeping on copy cats. The technology of the Tempur-Pedic is such that air flows through it eliminating that problem. We were close to buying a Bob-O-Pedic whose bed that looks like the Celebrity and sells for $1500. I decided I didn't want a bed made overseas and for that reason and others I am so glad we didn't buy it.
Tempur-Pedic makes seven beds. The Celebrity is the 3rd from the top in terms of price. The least expensive is $1500 so you can have a Tempur-Pedic at a more reasonable cost. I want to address another issue that I have read over and over about. I am convinced these writers own copycats although Tempur-pedic gives you (depending on where you buy it) at least two months to return it. They say it might take at least a month to get used to it. I didn't need more than one minute. The issue is that people say they can't read in bed and that it is hard to turn over. I do not have those experiences at all and neighter does my husband. all.
My Celebrity and others in the line, though not all, are the first mattresses to be awarded the Arthritis Foundation's Ease-of-Use Commendation.
When you read that the Tempur-Pedic Swedish Mattress (www.tempurpedic.com) "conforms to and supports your entire body, relieving the pressure that often causes stiffness, poor sleep, and pain" believe it. I haven't woken up with pains since I have been sleeping on it and I'm sleeping significantly better. It is said that you won't feel your partner (if applicable) move around or get up. That's true and I think a reason I sleep so much better. My husband gets up a couple of times a night and now I don't wake up. I am sleeping many more hours. I was a 5 to 6 hour a night sleeper. That worked for me because it had to but I know that for our optimum health we should get more. In addition I have an autoimmune disease which causes fatigue so 5 hours of sleep meant a nap in the afternoon. Not so since I am now sleeping a respectible 7 hours (at least) a night.
Tempur-Pedic products are naturally treated to be resistant to mites and other household allergens. They are CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) and formaldehyde free. You will read that the foam gives off an odor which dissipates after a few days. There was a little smell that lasted a couple of days. I was in Florida when it came so that is my husband's view of this issue.
The mattress is made with a TEMPUR material support layer; Tempur material pillow top, dual airflow system (This is trademarked and the reason that I am not hot at night which I mentioned at the beginning.) and a cashmere blend cover which is also allergen resistance.
There is a limited 20 year warranty. The warranty is fully explained on the website.
We have the queen which measures 60 inches wide by 80 inches long by 13.5 inches deep.
