This Technique K6385 5qt digital pressure cooker is the first pressure cooker I have ever tried. I was actually kind of scared of them after hearing stories of old ones exploding, etc. Then I saw this one being promoted on QVC and it looked so easy and safe that I decided to try it. The cooker has been working great over a year now and has produced many delicious meals. It has hi/low pressure cooking, a programmable timer and keeps food warm after the cooking time is over. Besides being a pressure cooker, it also has a cooking mode so that you can brown meats before adding the rest of the ingredients and putting it in pressure mode. The top locks after the pressure builds up so you can't accidently open it until you turn it off and the pressure is back to normal. This cooker also has a quick release valve to speed up pressure release once the dinner is cooked. An instruction/recipe book was included with it but I have also successfully adapted recipes I found on the Internet. This pressure cooker is a little smaller than what some of the recipes call for so I needed to adjust the amount of ingredients used. Clean-up is also fast and easy with this item.
