I know it's overkill, but I like to do my taxes manually, and then check out at least 2 online sites for comparison. I have tried several different sites over the past 4 or 5 years. TaxSlayer was the easiest and the most thorough that I have ever encountered. Additionally, their email support was quick, to the point, and user friendly.

It only cost me $9.95 to figure and e-file both my federal and state returns. I am getting a larger refund than if I had done them myself, and a much larger refund than if I had used another on-line tax prep site. Because TaxSlayer asks the right questions, my retirement contribution was credited. In a rival program, that information was not requested from my W-2, and without scouring the instruction manual, I personally would not have found that deduction.
