Tarte Perma Pout Liquid Lipstick Review

Quick View: I love long wearing lipsticks and glosses but find it tough to find ones that look great, don't dry my lips out, and actually really ARE long wearing. Tarte Perma Pout Liquid Lipstick is long wearing but the shades are not as described.

My Take on Tarte Perma Pout Liquid Lipstick

This liquid lipstick has color on one end of the tube and a clear minty gloss on the other. It comes in just two shades: Warm Rose and Cool Rose. Now, the word rose, to me, conjures up images of a red shade. I ordered Cool Rose hoping it wouldn't be fire engine red and it turns out it wasn't red AT ALL. It was much more of a light brown shade which I don't hate but neither do I love.

The color is applied onto the lips and then slightly dries. After that, the gloss goes over it to add high shine to the lips. I like how long wearing this duo is. It really does last for hours with no weird fading, patching, or ring around the lips syndrome. The gloss is minty and shiny and, without the gloss, the color is matte and not raisin lips dry. Naturally, it isn't dewy but it can be worn without gloss if you prefer a matte look.

My only issue is that the shade is muddy. It's brown without a hint of rose in it. I'm debating sending it back to tarte.com. While I like the performance, the color doesn't really look good with my skin tone and coloring.

My Viewpoint

Tarte makes fabulous cosmetics and they are usually free of all kinds of yucky things that other cosmetics have in them. They are not 100% natural but are packed with antioxidants and devoid of parabens and other undesirables. This product works fine but the color is way off. I give it 3 stars. it really is a 4 star lip product but when something is called "Cool Rose", I expect a rose shade, not a muddy brown one. I do recommend this though if you like and desire a more nude/brown shade lip color. It lasts for hours without transferring or fading.
