Targus Chill Mat model # PA248U Laptop Cooler. I bought this chill mat/cooler for my laptop. It lasted about a year. The cord wears out your USB because of moving around the laptop. Dell laptops get really hot and you need something to cool them with. I really like this cooler because it has 2 fans underneath the laptop where the hot air actually comes from. It keeps the laptop nice and cool. It comes on with my computer and goes off with my computer. The 2 fans are so quiet you wouldn't even notice they were on. After about a year the on and off switch died so I bypassed that and it worked for awhile but eventually I had to replace it. I tried a chill mat  iXoft by Thermaltake and that seemed nice, but had its own set of issues. I only could use that for about 3 months until that died. I tried the iConcepts portable cooling station which has a lot of issues. So I went back to the Targus Chill mat and I try to make sure it doesn't move around too much to wear the USB plug out. I recommend this product for laptop users.

The switch in the power cord failed on two of these immediately.  Was able to repair one, but so far not the other.  Has very fine wire in the cables and they are very difficult to solder or repair.  They should replace them with a cord without a switch!

this will definitely keep the laptop cool.  i saw temperatures decrease about 10 degrees while working for a few hours with it on.  but its kind of bulky so not very travel freindly.  its also a little noisy for some reason, that could just be because of the way i have it situated though.  Its also contructed of cheap plastic.

YOU HAVE SO MANY COMPUTER GEEKS IN THE WORLD. THEY COULD HACK INTO ANY COMPUTER. THIS IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS SUBJECT. IF YOU PUT PLASTIC ON A LAPTOP YOU WILL BURN IT ON THE COMPUTER AND YOU WILL END UP SENDING IT BACK TO SHOP OR THE COMPANY YOU BROUGHT IT FROM.

You can count on this cheaply made chill mat breaking down after the warranty period.  It did it for me during, and later after, the warranty period.  In theory a good idea; but, made too cheaply to hold up in gentle use - imagine if you're rough with equipment.

If you use your laptop on your lap or even on a table top theTargus chill mat will keep it cool. It has two little fans to keep it cooled down and runs off of your computer's power so it is off when your computer is off. It also has an on/off switch and is made to keep your computer from sliding off. It's not expensive and great to have

I have been through three power cords and many battles with Targus over the poor design of their flimsy cord. The unnecessary switch on the power cord has nothing to keep the wires from pulling loose and breaking, so if you're a mobile user, this chill pad is not for you. If you use a laptop in a single location and can leave it connected, thereby eliminating any movement of the power cord/pull on the switch, the chill pad does an admirable job of keeping even a large laptop cool. After battling with Targus and replacing the cord three times, I finally removed the switch from one of the bad cords and soldered the wires together. Not a great solution, but at least one that provides reliable service from the unit. In the future, I'll be looking at models from other companies.
