Full View: When they say laptop, I take them very seriously. I lie on the couch with my laptop on my stomach or sit with it on my legs. Convenient but HOT! My last laptop got hot when used for long periods of time but my new monster truck of a laptop - the Dell Inspiron 9400 - gets blistering hot when left on. I don't want to burn out any circuits nor do I want to keep tanning my body via laptop burn. My husband picked this chill mat up for me and it works flawless and is whisper quiet.

The Chill Mat

This mat is 11.75" x 9" x 0.8"  and looks like a little stove top. The two little wound "burners" are actually fans. The mat comes with a detachable USB cord that goes from the mat to any available USB port on your computer. No outlets required. There is a little on/off switch on the cord which is convenient. The mat keeps the underside of your laptop cool and blows the air out of the back. If you use your laptop on your lap, you will never feel the heat of an overworked computer again. On a desk, this sits steady on rubber feet and does its job nearly silently. I have had computers burn out on me from being overheated. Laptops don't have a great ventilation system and, if they are flush against your body or a desk, they will get very hot. The Targus Chill Mat PA248U Laptop Cooler keeps the computer cool and stops you from burning up while using it. At only 15 ounces, this mat can travel in your laptop/notebook case and be used anywhere. It sure has saved me from overheating as the days get warmer. I would get so hot, I would have to crank the air (and I am rarely hot). My thighs and stomach honestly do have laptop burn which is really pathetic if you think about it. I am on the computer THAT much! I am so glad I have this chill mat. Although my laptop is wider than the mat, it does the job and keeps the computer stable with no slipping. Wunderbar!

My Viewpoint

What's not to love? At under $30.00, the Targus Chill Mat PA248U Laptop Cooler is a steal. It can save expensive damage to your hard working laptop computer and keep you from overheating as well. It needs no electricity or batteries and it is virtually silent. I think it's the best investment my husband could have made for me as it pertains to my new laptop. Not only did he save the computer from overheating, he saved my skin from burning and our electricity bill from skyrocketing from using the air conditioning when it isn't really needed. 5 stars! I wish I had this mat years ago. I sure won't want to be without it now that I see the difference in the heat of my laptop even after hours of steady use.
