I never used store-brand or discount formula with my first child, and I was reluctant to do so with my twins. They were exclusively breast fed for months, and only needed formula after I had returned to full-time work and they hit a big growth spurt. We went with Enfamil for a while, but when they started exclusively drinking formula it was killing my budget. I was buying the big Enfamil cans at $25 a pop almost daily.

Then I saw on a twin mom forum some other moms raving about the Target formula. I bought a small can, so skeptical that I also bought their regular formula, and tried it. The twins were preemies who spent some time in the NICU, and never reacted well to various formulas. Not only did they do OK on the Target formula, they stopped spitting up and seemed to really love the taste more.

The best part was that the price was $11 for the same large can, and the scoops were no larger. We even could stock up and buy three cans for just a couple bucks more than one can. This was a real Godsend with all the other additional expenses (diapers? hello??) of baby twins and a 4-year-old.

The downside was that we had to stock up on it. The Target is in our town, but is on the other side of town. And anyone with a baby on formula knows you blow through it. So there is no quick run to the store when the formula is low to get a can. But since it was cheaper, we would load up on 10 cans at a time and they would last much longer.

My son had a huge problem with spitting up when he was a newborn (he couldn't even keep down breastmilk) so we had to use the Enfamil AR Lipil, which is $25/large can. Once he started sitting up by himself our pediatrician told us we could switch to a regular formula. I'd asked around and a lot of people I know use either Target brand or Wal-Mart brand (Parent's Choice), so I decided to try this one, which is the cheaper one. Joshua loves it, and has now stopped spitting up almost all together. In addition, I like that it's iron-fortified but doesn't have that metallic-blood smell when you open the can, which couldn't have possibly tasted good.

Seems more"generic" brand products are loosing their stigma and actually working as good if not better than brand names. Glad to hear this formula works well for you. ~ Carrie
