Great Help

4

I have suffered all my life with unsightly body hair. I have pale skin and dark, think hair. Naturally, I am very self-conscience about it. I have tried everything from creams, to shaving, to wax. However, it always came back darker and thicker. I finally made the decision to invest in a professional system. A few weeks later, my TRIA arrived in the mail. I was really excited and started it immediately. After about 2 weeks, I definitely noticed results. Though the hair came back, it always came back thinner and lighter. Overall, I believe it is a great and effective product. The only things that really disappointing me was the pain associated with it. Granted, I did start on the highest level. However, the pricking sensation on my sensitive skin was quite unpleasant. Also, I noticed how small the laser tip was. This means only little area could be covered at once. It was effective, but it took a very long time just to do one arm or leg. Other than that, it is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone who is ready to remove their hair.

Sort of works

I used the Tria for over 7 months doing treatments every two weeks, but never achieved the results they described. I have extremely pale skin and dark hair. I stuck to the schedule (using reminders on my iPhone to keep on track). My results were less hair but definitely not enough to stop shaving at any point. I used it on my underarms with setting of 3 (uncomfortable) to 4 (my husband would come ask if I was alright because I would let out an occasional involuntary yelp). It takes an extremely long time to use because you must cover each area twice using the overlapping grid pattern. I never recouped that time investment. I wish the company would release more data about percent of time the device doesn't work. I don't doubt that it works for some people, I was surprised to find that it didn't work on me. I just assumed it would work because I fit the description of light skin/dark hair color combination.

Works with limitations

Got this for the whole family. As a guy, I used it mainly for my ears which have gotten hairier as I have matured. While this is not a recommended location for use, I have had good results and with three months use and have less returning hair. The lasing head must be flush with the skin which makes it impossible to get the edges of the ear and somewhat difficult in the creases. My wife has tried it some under her arms but not consistently. Multiple high power pulses quickly in close proximity creates a hot spot. I would recommend lower power and spacing the "shots" in time and distance to prevent this hot spot. When a heavy dark hair gets zapped, there can be a brief pinching burning sensation. I give it a 4 due to the edge effect.

Used it for 9 months. Still have to shave daily.

I had high hopes for the Tria.  I got it in February, and followed the schedule (every two weeks for the first few months, then monthly afterwards).  I used it on my legs, bikini line and armpits.  All of these areas still have hair growing.  It may be more sparse, but I am not about to stop shaving to see.  The point is, I still have to shave daily to get rid of the hair.  Today, nine months later, I fired up the Tria to treat an area.  It did two "hits" before the battery died, and when I plugged it in, it no longer charges.  This was a huge waste of money and a time sucker, as it took an hour (with a three hour charging time each half hour) for each session.  It was pretty pointless, as I will still have to shave daily to be hair free.  So, I guess the real sucker is me, having spent money on this piece of junk! UPDATE: I contacted Tria since the unit didn't last a year, and they paid for a replacement unit to be shipped out. So, I have another unit to continue to experiment with. The new one charges faster, but I'm still not convinced it will actually keep me from having to shave, but am going to continue using it monthly. My husband has started using it, too, so it's possible it will work on him and not on me! I have brown hair and fair skin. My husband has black hair and medium skin. I'll update you! Update #2: Still stand by my poor rating. I used the replacement for about a month before it stopped charging. Would show as being charged, but as soon as I turned it on, it would turn off again. Didn't bother trying to get another one - just replaced it with a Silk'n BellaLight which is still working, doesn't need to be charged, and doesn't stop working after a set number of charges. I've noticed there's a new design to the Tria in magazine ads, so maybe it actually works now, but I won't be spending more money with this company.

Works well but devices can crack

Like Vick1, my review was also rejected by Tria even though it was well within the guidelines. Let me first start off by saying, it works for me. I've seen a significant reduction in hair growth in a short amount of time. My issue is with the quality of the unit. The first unit I received had small cracks around the vent. Tria promptly replaced it and unfortuantley the second unit developed similar cracks around the vent after a few uses. It also started malfunctioning. Beware of defective units. Other than that, it works wonderfully at removing hair for me.

Bad product, bad customer service

1

I really wanted this product to work. I have light skin, dark hair, and I used the highest setting for the recommended number of treatments. I had NO results. I sent multiple emails asking for advice and not a single one was answered. When I tried to post a review stating my experience, it was rejected. They stated that it did not meet their guidelines. When I read the guidelines, my review was well within them. There should have been no reason to reject my review, other than it was a negative review of their product. Be very careful when considering purchasing this product.

It's NOTHING like professional laser

I just tried the Tria at home the first time today. It isn't as strong at all as the professional treatments I had at the Professional Office. I used it for my face on the strongest setting of 5 and it felt like the lowest setting at the professional office. The 5 setting at the doc's office was VERY painful especially on upper lip it used to make my eyes water. I could use this at home tria all day on my upperlip and never tear up. If that is an indication of the results I will achieve then I am going to return it.

**Last summer I spent TWICE this much for laser hair removal on ONE area at my dermatologist's office. I've been happy with the results but resistant to go back and get more done because of the cost. I heard about this and couldn't be more excited to try it. At-home laser hair removal, and no more appoinements!!**

Did work for me, but customer service was excellent

I purchased this item and kept it for one year. Every few weeks i zapped my own arm, leg and underarm hairs and then waited. But every time the hairs grew back. Not to be discouraged i zapped again and again. A few motnh later, i was disappointed to see no reduction in hair growth. Not only that, but i found the device to be very painful. I would spend more than one hour inflicting pain upon myself, yet the results were not forthcoming. The final straw came, when at the end of a year I noticed that my arm, leg and underarm hair had actually grown back thicker. This was extremely frustrating, as i had spend the money, put in the time and suffered the pain, all to have my hopes dashed. Fortunately  the company who sold me the item were understanding and allowed me to return it, so i do not hold them any grudges and think that perhaps some people just dont respond to the treatment as well as others. Also the machine is really easy to use, and if you find it too painful then you can always buy topical lidocaine at the pharmacy. In conclusion, it didnt work for me, but I would discourage others from trying it. The customer service is outstanding, so they deserve a chance just for that. I'm pretty certain it will work for some people, it just didnt work for me, and that could be due to other factors such as hormonal imbalances.

Effective, but takes a long time to achieve results

The Tria home laser removal device DOES work, but it takes a while to achieve results.  Probably the biggest drawback is that because the part of the device that actually delivers the laser light is so small (a little less than the size of a dime), it will take a long time to treat an area.  Using it for under your arms is probably the best place to start and will give you faster/easier results than say, using it on your legs.  You can treat the area under one arm in probably 12 to 15 minutes tops, while one calf might take over an hour at a time. A great feature about this device is that you can change the setting/intensity of the laser quite easily, so if an area is uncomfortable, you can adjust accordingly.  However, the higher the intensity of the setting, the faster your results will be.  Also, the lighter your skin and darker the hair the better your results will be as well.  The kit does include a small skin color sensor that you must use first to ensure your skin tone can be treated using Tria.
