Are you a tabloid junkie? Do you like to know the latest drama and news in Hollywood? Do you flip through People Magazine as you wait in line at the grocery store (I do!). Then TMZ.com is for you. This isn't unsubstantiated gossip. This is a news site that always seems to have the breaking news before anyone else. Attorney Harvey Levin (Remember him from the People's Court?) runs the site and knows all about legalities. What you read is true and often news not just gossip. But there's plenty of that too. Plus pictures, videos and more.

I admit, I am interested in what happens in Tinsel Town. I was glued to my TV during all the many Anna Nicole Smith trials and I watch Entertainment Tonight or Extra or whatever that celeb news/gossip show is when I get around to it. I also enjoy Best Week Ever on VH1 which recounts all the week's celebrity happenings in a humorous (but factual) fashion. However, I don't like rumors and wacky stuff like the National Enquirer and Star have printed that was so over the top that I could just imagine crazed writers making stuff up and Photoshopping people together to make it look like that had a big scoop.
It was during the whole Anna Nicole mess that I kept seeing TMZ.com everywhere. News outlets like CNN and MSNBC were crediting the site for key pieces of news. Harvey Levin seemed to be everywhere telling legit news people what was going on. Documents shown all were stamped TMZ.com. Unable to resist, I checked out the site. Now, it's my one stop source for all the celeb news and lots of interesting caught in the act videos and pictures. This site updates daily and then as needed if something breaks. It seems to be THE place to go for up to the second news on everything from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's Ty Pennington's No Contest plea for drunk driving to breaking the news that Rosie O'Donnell left The View (complete with a video of the vicious cat fight Rosie got into with her co-star the day before she left the show).
After each news article, there is the option to comment on what you just read. I don't read the comments or add to them. I don't even look at them. But you can register than have your say about anything you read if you so desire.
Along with breaking news, there is also a healthy dose of gossip and pics daily, a massive photo archive, and a huge video archive of stars out and about, caught on the street, interviewed, and overseen from afar. There are galleries with the worst celeb butts, the hottest celebs, worst celeb cosmetic surgery, and on and on. One could spend days reading the site, looking at the picture galleries, and watching the video archives. I don't bother with the galleries or videos. I read the daily news and will click on the videos with the news articles if they are riveting enough for me to bother with.
TMZ.com has not been wrong yet. They even knew what the American Idol contestants would be singing AND wearing before each show and exactly when Larry Birkhead would find out the results of the DNA test to see if he was Dannilynn's biological father - when all the news outlets were reporting the wrong day and time of the unveiling.
My Viewpoint
I rely on TMZ.com to feed my voyeuristic side and to give me a glimpse into the life I am so far away from. I also know what they report isn't rumor. It's news and even CNN and other outlets treat it as such. I check the site daily to see what's up, get a few laughs at their humor, and keep up on my pop culture knowledge.
If you want an all in one, inclusive site for reliable celeb news and gossip, TMZ.com is not only the biggest, it's the most respected. And it is amazingly entertaining as well. 5 stars for a site that backs up its words with sources, proof, and a healthy dose of in your face humor.
