For the second time in 18 months TD Ameritrade's computers failed during a major market crisis. Each time customers were unable to log in and access their accounts. This time TD Ameritrade would not even take phone calls leaving their customers totally helpless to manage their accounts. I'm sure many investors lost thousands of dollars by not being able to sell falling issues or missed many great opportunities to buy oversold issues at bargain prices. In either case, it was a helpless feeling, akin to being a victim of crime. I plan to immediately seek out another online broker and transfer my accounts. I would suggest that anyone planning to open an account with this broker rethink that decision. Imagine how you would feel if you were helpless to manage your account during one of these days of major market volatility.

TeeBall, I completely agree with your review. I calculate that I lost at least $10,000 in trading opportuities lost this week. Every time volume in the market spiked, the TD Ameritrade site froze up. I am moving to either e-trade or Schwab.
