Years ago, I had Verizon. And I had no problems with them. Then I got hit with a double whammy; bankruptcy after the divorce, and medical problems that kept me from driving a truck. My Verizon bill was paid up-to-date, but, I declared bankruptcy. I switched over to a "pay as you go" plan with Verizon. That was OK, but I got charged even if I connected to an answering machine! (Less than one minute but charged for two.) Later, when my disability checks started to come in, I asked Verizon for a credit plan again. NOPE! Shot down.
T-Mobile was advertising heavily in the St. Louis area. So, off I went to one of their stores. Within 5 minutes I was approved and had a new phone for FREE. With Verizon, if I wanted a new phone, I had to pay LIST PRICE!
I currently have a SAMSUNG T319. They tossed in a free carrying case, a free home charger & car charger. Granted it's not the most advanced phone in the world, but I'm a dinosaur. I just want to talk. It does take photos, but not that good. Nobody gave me a hard time when I went with the cheapest plan they have; $30 a month plus taxes.
Granted, I don't travel much outside St. Louis anymore, but I've never had a dropped call. Every carrier has 'weak spots'. But, so far...so good with T-Mobile.
