I've never had a great, cool phone before and I happened into this one through T-Mobile. First, it wasn't terribly expensive and I had heard some very good things about it from reviews. T-Mobile's everything package (unlimited texting and unlimited 3G Data package) is affordable, much more affordable than the iPhone and ATT'S package. T-Mobile even offered to spread the phone's payments out over 4 months, so that added around 40 a month for 4 months to my bill, of which I had a month to pay anyways...no interest was added for this convenience. Secondly, The phone is somewhat future proof: its the world's first open source phone by Google (the Android OS platform), meaning that it is completely programable by ANYONE and EVERYONE and not just one company (Apple). That means no ridiculous 'upgrades' requiring you to buy a new phone (like Apple is now trying to do with their next gen iPhones that can play and record video; the brandnew upgrade that was free of charge from T-Mobile and Android accomplishes that just fine with my phone-and there are more upgrades down the line to streamline the User Interface.) The phone itself is fine, nothing special, not as sexy as the iPhone and the battery life is NOT GREAT - it definitely drains your battery with all of the incredible features. However, there is talk of a new extended life battery for the phone, and even aftermarket batteries that nearly triple the standard time the phone can operate. its SD card slot means that you can store up to 16Gigs of information on a removable card, unlike the iPhone which requires you to buy different models for more storage, and it is not removable (in fact, nothing in the iPhone is). The iPhone has its advantages, but it has real competion in the Google G1. I am very taken with this phone and reccomend it to anyone with the T-Mobile service.
