T-Mobile - Dash Cell Phone Review Summary

Cell phones continue to offer more and more features every year while continuing to offer convenience. One phone that fits the bill is the T-Mobile Dash Cell Phone. This cell phone offers many reasons for reviewers to like it, including its compact size, smartphone capability, and other features. But there are some shortfalls with the T-Mobile Dash Cell Phone, as indicated by the range of quotes from “Easy to Use With Great Features” to “Tend to be Very Slow”. Critics point out the hyper- sensitive touch volume control and the compact, tiny keyboard as two potential problems. It all makes for a mostly positive experience among Cell Phones with most reviewers recommending the T-Mobile Dash Cell Phone but with a few reservations.

After problems too numerous to mention I recently replaced my MDA with the Dash.  I like this phone's size and find it comfortable to use. With window's mobile 6  emails download much faster and I'm able to get pictures with good clarity.  I'm happy with it overall.  I don't even miss the touch...

This is a fantastic Windows Mobile 6 based smartphone that let's you sync email, contacts, calendar etc. with your corporate Exchange server. Oh, yeah- You can also have a decent phone call on it. I did a lot of research on all the various Blackberry's and other options out there and this was the best looking, smallest, and full feature phone/PDA I could find. Other phones may have touch screens and pop out keyboards but this little unit gets the job done in a very practical package. You can also buy them unlocked on ebay (and probably other places) to use with ATT or other service providers if... review »

I'm on my second Dash in 6 months. T-Mobile kindly replaced the first one and now I'm having the exact same problems again! My phone freezes up and the only way to shut down is to remove battery and power back up, the alarm clock goes off randomly whenever it wants (at work!), on half of my calls people cannot hear me speaking, etc., etc., etc...need I say more?

Being an owner of the Sidekick 2 and 3, I decided it was time for a change. The Sidekick was limited in apps I could install due to a less common OS. What initially drew me to the T-Mobile Dash was a combination of a Windows Mobile Smartphone and the design. Why do I have such a thing for Windows Mobile? The advantages of such an OS are that software availability and programmers are much more common and there's almost an unlimited amount of software you can choose from - free and pay. I've already installed many apps on my phone and am so glad I made the switch.

It takes some time getting used to...

I originally was in the market for a blackberry, but when I spotted the Dash and found out that it had wi-fi access I was sold! However it didn't take long for the excitement to die away. As soon as I started trying to navigate the phone's system I realized just how confusing and frustrating the phone's menu could be, and it doesn't help that the system sometimes jumps to a menu option you didn't even choose. The internet access can be very slow, which can cause you to time out. On the plus side, it does look and feel nice in your hand and if you have the patience to navigate the system it will... review »

The Dash 3G is flat, compact and wide but still easy to hold. It's also light and I LOVE the skin of it. Its easy to hold and the styling is very attractive -- not flashy. Its compact design slips easily into pockets and the navigation key makes navigation quick and easy. But the QWERTY keys could stand to be a bit wider with more room between them.

Out of the box, the Dash comes with a Li-Ion battery, charger, stereo headset, carrying pouch, start guide, tips and tricks card, user guide CD, terms and conditions booklet, USB cable and audio/charging cable.

The Dash is great if you want internet access on your phone with a screen that's larger than the average phone. Those that are dependet on their e-mails would probably prefer a Blackberry or a Sidekick. The Dash is good for me, as I can download music on it and also use it much as i would a flsh-deive to store files, etc.

My only complaints are these:

 (1) The touch-pad control for volume is extremely sensitive - if your hads are at all sweaty or wet they will not respond.

 (2) The phone also seems to be EXTREMELY sensitive to moisture. My original Dash had to be sent in for servicing, as the...

I bought this Tmobile Dash cellphone not long after it was available. I purchased mine back in March of 2007, and have had this phone since. I have had to replace it twice already. I was debatingon getting the Blackberry Pearl at the time, over this phone, but was told this one would be better for texting as the Blackberry is better if you email more than text. I do a lot of texting, so I went with this phone. I liked it a lot for the 1st few months, and after that I started noticing more of its flaws than what I actually liked about it. It runs off a 16MB memory card but once you start using more... review »

I admit it.... the touchpad volume control stunk.  The volume would invariably go down to zero in the middle of a call, then not only could I not hear the person on the other end, I could NEVER get it to activate to raise the volume while in the call.  I had to hang up and dial back.  The touch strip volume control is a total design flaw.  To remedy this, I just deactivated it.  Simple.  Now I LOVE my phone.  I do everything with this... it's holding 5 of my email accounts, I surf the web and take pics and short videos, and texting is a breeze with the QWERTY keypad.  I also have a lot... review »

I have had the Dash for over a year and I used to switch phones quarterly because I couldnt find what I needed; compact size, wi-fi and high volume for road noise. The dash is <$110.00, unlocked on Ebay (to be used with any SIM carrier) and meets my needs. It syncs up with Windows and has a full, easy to use keyboard. If you can use Windows you can use this phone. Wi-fi was easy to setup with my home network and you will easily see all available networks outside too. Love it!

There are a million smartphones but dont go with a small screen. I tried the I phone and actually re-sold it on Ebay because...

I brought the Tmobile dash when it first came out.  Yes the dash was cute and small and fit for a female but it didn't live up to my expectations.  My first dash was working good up until the second week where I woke up and my screen was black and I could not see anything.  I put it on the charger the night before next to my bed and when I woke up it was black.  I called Tmobile and they walked me through a few steps that did not work because my screen was black.  Eventually Tmobile sent me a new phone.  The second phone was better but it did freeze up a lot.  I am the text queen but I feel...

I love my T-Mobile Dash. I have had it for about a year and for the price I paid after researching the phone and purchasing it online, I couldn't beat it.  The T-Mobile has a nice soft feel to it, the buttons feel natural in my hands.  I loved surfing the internet on it, before I downgraded to T-Mobile Tzones, I just wish T-zones was a little more functional when searching for directory information. Sometimes it takes a few attempts before I get the info I need, but it is better than paying directory assisstance each time.  I love my Camera and Recording option on my phone, just wish I has storage... review »

I love my DASH.  I like that it can be used as a phone, a QUALITY MP3 player, and a synchable calendar.  My only challenge now is whether to keep my MP3 player anymore.  This has quality sound, both with the headset and with the installed speaker.

A few drawbacks have popped up, but can be worked around.  The volume control bar being on the face of the phone was tricky until I figured out how to only have it usable during phone calls.  The inablity to download custom ring tones can get got around with trimming up a favorite song and pushing it directly to the phone.

I could not get it to...

I really like the T Mobile Dash. I love the fact I can be in sync with my work computer, keep track of all my e-mails and i can text friends and family easily. I also can get on three-way with my family and chat with them all at once! I love that!! This phone is very easy to use and the screen is great. Now, from time to time, you do have to shut this little gadget down, it acts just like my computer at work sometimes, slow and locks up. So to fix that little problem, simply turn your phone off. I try to remember to turn it off at least every two to three days. If your a busy person like me, turn... review »
