I love to watch cooking shows and duplicate the techniques.  I had seen on several shows dishes where they do a little cooking on the stove top and then place the frying pan in the oven to finish off the cooking process.  The problem was all of my pans did not have handles that could go in the oven without either melting, or just getting rediculasly and dangerously hot.  But I wanted to be able to create the dishes that I saw on TV, so I knew I had to get an oven safe frying pan, but I did not want to have to pay a rediculas amount of money.

Luckily for me T-Fal makes one that is just under $30.00 since I know T-Fal is a good reliable brand, I went ahead and purchased the T-fal Ultimate Enamel 8-Inch Fry Pan, in Black.

T-fal Ultimate Enamel 8-Inch Fry Pan, Black is an attractive looking pan.  The outside of the pan is made with a dark hard enamel.  That is not only durable and strong, but is also kind of glossy and pretty.

The interior of the pan has a non-stick surface that is actually patented by T-Fal.  The interior of the pan also is very pretty, and it also resists scratching.  Although I have never met a pan that doesn't scratch, but I have had mine for nearly a year now, and it has 1 very minor scratch.  Which compared to other non-stick pans I own and have owned, 1 minor scratch is pretty darn good.

The pan also has a feature that I have never had before on a frying pan and that is a Thermo Spot heat indicator.  This will let you know when the pan is pre-heated, and when it is ready to actually start cooking.  This is kind of a glowy thing  (for lack of a better word) you will see in the middle of the pan, when it gets a bit redish and starts to glow you are good to go.

Now what is really nice about this frying pan is the handle.  First of all it is ergonomically designed, so it feels more comformatable than most frying pans when you are carrying it in one hand.  This is especially important if you are pulling it out of the oven. The handle is made of what they call "Stay Cool" silicone.   This allows you to be able to place this in the oven, and it can withstand heat up to 350 degrees, and when you pull it out the handle is still reasonably cool.

The pan is dishwasher safe, but because of the heat indicator I feel a little uncomfortable putting it in the dishwasher, I have a couple of time and everything was fine, but I feel more comfortable washing it by hand.  The non-stick surface actually makes this a reasonably easy pan to clean, with dish soap and a rage.

There is also a lifetime warranty on the pan.

I really like my T-fal Ultimate Enamel 8-Inch Fry Pan, Black.  It is very durable and still looks lovely after almost a year, and you can't beat the price, under $30.00 for a pan that is versatile and has extra features such a the heat indicator.  Comparatively this pan is an excellent value compared to the prices of other similiar pans.

I do recommendthe T-Fal Ultimate Enamel 8 inch fry pan, for those who want to cook someting on the stove top and finish it off in the oven.

Sounds like a great pan. I guess I need the bigger one for now. It's hard to feed boys in 8 inches. They still think family size bags of chips are snacks though.

Great review. I can never remember when I go shopping what the best material is for cooking. I think cast iron is but it's so heavy. Thanks for this one! Jo
